Default Hi all, new member here

Hi all, names Marc but nickname Nozza, have finally managed to get the car of my dreams after nagging the wife for a few years, pick up a 2006 Blobeye STI this coming Friday, in black. Mods on it are a Parrot hands free kit and that is it, completely standard as how I wanted it! Has taken me a while to find a good one but hopefully it's a good one.

Would like to attend a few meets as I'm wanting a new exhaust and need a listen to other's but need something quiet as I do shift work and I don't want to annoy the neighbours at 3am.

Cheers

Noz

it was registered in Feb 2006 so right before the march tax thing on the 2.5, I do like the blue but always loved the black so was happy to find it in the end, at a Subaru dealer in Essex. One owner from new, 67,000 miles on the clock, needs a bit of tidying up but am happy to do that myself. Even got Bridgestone Potenzas which I believe was the standard tyre on them, but if I'm wrong please let me know!

cheers Red Devil, I can't wait myself! Been 16 years in the making, have wanted a Subaru all that time, everytime I have gone to get one there's always been a spanner in the works (insurance, houses, kids etc) but now in a good position. I already am on first name terms with the lady in the local Shell garage so that's good!

well, I picked it up yesterday, and I haven't stopped smiling! It is terrifying quick for me, but it's a great car. I need a few things sorting, it needs new brakes, and the paintwork and exhaust need attention, but other then that I cannot see much wrong with it. I will get some pics up at some point, need to find somewhere to host them.

Hi Nozza, have a look at hosting for pics on photobucket or imageshack

Nice one mate, and in the best colour!!. Exhaust is easy to sort. Have a listen to a few and see what you like. Depends how loud you want to go really.

I need it to be real quiet really, as standard, I did get a quote for a new backbox alone from Subaru, £400, I laughed down the phone! Thinking of a custom system made, but I believe ones like Scorpion/Milltek/Magnex are fairly quiet?

Very nice indeed mate might be worth checking out Jap Performance Parts in Crawley, they might have something that suits your needs exhaust wise.

cheers all, I have noticed a slight whine in first gear, after talking to my neighbour who owns a JDM Blobeye running 500bhp, he believes the previous owner may have had fun in 1st and 2nd lol, it's only noticeable when I lean out of the window and no stereo on, but I will keep an eye on it if it gets louder or starts to howl or anything.

Is it whine on acceleration or when coasting on the over-run?

A bit of whine on the overrun in 1st/2nd isn't uncommon, mine's done it for the last 5 years and 45000 miles with no problems (and numerous trackdays in that time). Although mine is a 5spd.

it's mainly on acceleration to be honest, it only does it in 1st, 2nd is quiet and 3-6 there is no noise at all. If it gets worse I do have a 3 month warranty, but will probably be told it's characteristics lol. It doesn't jump out of gear at all and all gears are easy to select. I'm a little worried because of the cost of a new box but hope it's nothing serious.
