Default Some sort of fund raiser for the Japanese

How about we have some sort of event where we can donate money to the Japanese in their time of need, after all we do drive Jap cars?

Just an idea, maybe get Saj involved/Gatwick Subaru/ dent guys etc?

I'd be up for that.

I have lots of friends and family in Japan and know what a long, hard road to recovery they have, even outside the quake zone.

Could only imagine how hard things must be over there, and how long it will take Japan and the people of Japan to recover from all this.

There's already a fairly substantial one being run by HJC I think, on the morning before the Surrey meet, the 2nd weekend in April. Obviously won't be as good as anything you could organise, but just in case yiu can't be assed, I thought I'd point it out

Not sure we will have a specific meet / event for this. Not to say we don't think its a worthy cause.

We are already sorting a few events, one of which is similar to what Baz suggests. Scott and Steve are on the ball when it comes to working together for the meets and events.

Think the way to go is for a collection to be made at one of the upcoming events, instead of introducing another one to the fold. Even collections at the monthly meets would achieve the same result.

Feel free to post in the meet suggestion forum, if you would like for this to be an SES event Post Here

Feel free to pm Scott (silversurfer) or Steve (Steve_PPP) if you would prefer to suggest a meet / event or for any queries regarding such

If anyone wants to set up a general event / fundraser, then feel free to post it in the other events forum I'm sure there would be a good SES attendance for a cause such as this.

untill the end of april, i wont have funds to go to any meets or fund raisers cuz ive only just started work again this week n money is scarce till the ed of april. however anything after that i would be up for.

u know those stupid flags people put on their cars when england is playing in the world cup, how about some jap ones, do a convoy down to brighton early one saturday mornin, park up near the seafront n take turns with a bucket collecting?

some of the more pristine cars with show engines n the bonnet up will get a few petrolheads stopping n looking. n if saj is involved, maybe get their drift car or something else on show. couple of signs about donations to japan in the car windows. n whoever is in charge of the finances can bank all the change donated n write a cheque out to one of the registered charities for japan.
or do you need to be a registered charity to collect on the street? should that be the case, if we contact one of the charities for japan, could they make it so we could collect on the street on their behalf?
