R.I.P #58 Marco Simoncelli

Thoughts go out to family and friends, a true racing talent and sure to be future MotoGP World Champion will be missed.

Agreed 100%

Well said Rich.

I ve not seen it before when a bike grips that much,

it would normally slide to the outside of the bend.

A very sad day.

Just how i thought, there was nothing they could of done to avoid it. If only his crash helmet hadn't come off i would be a very different story!

Go on youtube theres plenty on there. Not sure how it came off or why, You can just about see the chin strap in the vid only attached by one end.

Sad day. Really unusual how his bike regained grip at that angle ??
Also feel for Edward's & Rossi.

Exactly Clive, i was saying the same to the guys at my work today in conversation.
It was so low and cranked over that you would of expected the rear to lose contact and and the bike and himself to slide away out of the corner on the fairing? weird how he managed to come back across the track, just shows how much contact is needed and how sticky their tyres are!

He tried to lift it by forcing his knee down from what i could tell and thats when it righted in an uncontrollable manner and sent him straight into the way of Rossi and Edwards

nicely written piece as is this from Schwantz..........

http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2011/...34-rip-sic.htm

without getting too gory it was apparent from watching it live (and having the misfortune to see still pics in a newspaper) that he was hit with such force that the helmet strap was ripped out of the shell and forced from his head...............horrific and gutting to watch as you just knew it could not be a good outcome

absoloutely stunned

They have just released this footage of the Press Conference. You wont see a more somber PC than this.............. you almost feel it could have been Rossi's.

Whilst watching remember it's a room full of reporters that are there to ask questions.

Carry on watching ........ there is a touching finish.

Anyone watch MotoGP yesterday, nice tribute to Marco

Shame 4 crashed out on the first corner including Rossi who wanted to end the season in a good way after the death of a Marco

I thought it was a fitting tribute to someone who would ahve been one of the future greats.

Any bike I own from now on will be fitted with a #58 in honour.

First corner was an unfortunate incident which took out most of the midfield, it did let Cal get 4th and rookie of the year though.

Well done to Dovi aswell, taking 3rd in the championship.
