Post Differential Oil Change

Hi all,

I have a STI v2 (1995) Impreza classic and I'm looking to change the differential oil this weekend. I've read up on the process I believe I need to:

· Drive the car for 5 minutes to warm up the oil
· Jack up all four sides of the car
· Undo the sensor from the fill hole (top bolt)
· Remove the top fill plug
· Place drain pan under the differential
· Undo drain plug (bottom bolt)
· Clean any metal shavings from the plugs and inspect for any large pieces! (diff on the way out!)

Questions from this point onwards!

· Should I place some threaded PTFE seal tape on the bolts, to safe guard against leaks, or some other compound?
· What oil would you recommend? Should I buy from Subaru directly?
· In tightening the nuts what torque setting should I apply?
· What does everyone do with the old oil? (would like to be environmentally friendly).

Cheers,

Default

that list must be for a later car as your '95 STi will not have any sensor simply 2x bungs..........
you dont need any sealant, etc. on the bungs as they seal on the thread and you need a pukka LSD oil for that age/spec of car

we stock/supply a couple of options and you get a SES deal as always..........

just make sure you undo the top plug first as have had vbarious people come adrift over the years after un-doing the lower drain only to find the top filler is eized and they cant get the oil back in!!

** make sure the car is level to refill the oil as the top hole is also simply a "level" marker
