Default Audi S-Line Progress

I know it's a Subaru forum, but I'm Admin so.....shut it..........LOL

Update on the Audi family motor.

It felt like it was lacking power, but difficult to tell after jumping out of the Subaru.
It didn't feel a great deal more powerful then our 1.6 Seat, so after little investigation a common failure was identified with the Diverter Valve.

For the sake of £39+P&P it was worth a look/try. Although a PITA to change as it has to be done from under the car. Also after alot of fiddling about decided to knock up my own long reach allen key by angle grinding the bend off a standard allen key and fitting it in a 5mm socket. Dead easy once this was done.

Result was, YES, it was faulty, Boost is back along with very early spol (almost diesel like) now. So it should be back close to 197BHP with peak torqude from 2,000rpm.

Gave it a bit of a detail over the weekend.
Clayed each panel followed by Clean/Cleanse a coat of Gold Class and finally a coat of Natty's Paste wax (just because I like the smell).

The Bonnet, Door's and Wings were fairly clean on the clay and obviously have had a recent polish. But the previous owner must of been quite short as the tailgate and roof were shocking.

This is the colour of the clay after just the roof spoiler :


The tailgate and roof were similar, with the roof having do be done in 4 sections (there's alot of roof on an Audi Avant)


Boot badge now looks alot better. Not perfect but better :

nice car,

replaced all six coilpacks on my r32 golf, only for VW a week or so later admitting that they were a. problem and started recalling cars.

couldn't be bothered to stick old ones back in and then book into garage. new ones should do me for a while, especially as it does less than 500 miles a year now.

diverter valve is completly different to the one on my 98 a4, my one is a simple recirc with spring, no electrical stuff. my original had exploded, so forge one solved that.

the fsi engine is a fair bit different to the old AEB 1.8T so i'm out of my depth. hopefully you'll get the misfire sorted.

If it's a keeper, it may get a bit of headlight tinting treament as per the Hawk STi....

Things like cts sensors i always go genuine!!then you no there right.would of thought it would of been a 4 pin sensor.thermostat replacement is a good idea!

I thought it was 4 pin too hence why I bought one.
Only to find after throwing the old one on the ground and fitting the new one that the connector wouldn't fit.
So had to take it back out, fit the old one then go get another with 2 pins.

It's a very early B7, on a BGB engine.

Thermostat now fitted, a bit of a PITA due to the bloody spring clips not being big enough to get over the hoses/pipes, but started at 1:30pm and was filling with coolant at 3:00pm.
Audi Charge nearly £300 from what I have read, I done it for £21 (with discount ).

Temps came straight up to 90 DegC and stayed there.

Will see what it's like on the warm-up cycle over the weekend. Might still look at the beemer though

Went to the local SEAT dealer today to collect my wife's new (2nd hand) car (SEAT Ibiza 1.4S), and ended up buying myself a Leon FR TDi...LOL.......
Today has been a little heavy on the wallet

Got rid of Claire's MG ZR this morning, replaced with a Peugeot 308 1.6HDi. Having also bought the Mondeo ST TDCi just before Christmas, the redundancy money is disappearing quick!

Like the Leon FR's tho

they are very good those leon fr's...we had one, had mighty torque. Be careful when changing the front tyres as they are sensitive to tyre noise on the front

Hmm Yes, just checked that and realised why it felt much better then the Audi.

It has 258 lb-ft Vs the Audi's 207lb-ft....so happy day's especially with a Superchip BlueFin giving another 57lb-ft it'll have more Torque then the Scooby.

LOL yeh !!!! I think we have got the SEAT bug. We've had nearly as many SEAT's now as Scoobies.
Collecting it Friday, so if I get a chance will pop it round over the weekend.

Nice motors them do n half shift! not sure if its the same as petrol but the vag recurc valve goes tits up and is a pain i had it happen twice on my a3 could be worth treating urself to a nice shiny split-r,

That'd the same recirc valve I had to change on the Audi then (above, with pic's).

The deal on the SEAT included 12 months SEAT warranty and 2 years servicing, so I shouldn't get my hands too dirty with this one.

Nah,(i think lol)?? the recirc diverter the basic plastic bov its just behind the engine as u take cover off right **** they are, luckily my neighbour had same prob with his golf n called the aa thats wen i lernt the fault, them leons are rapid i tried to give one a go in im fiesta rs turbo 190ish at it was gone lol are they the same as s3?
