Default British Rallycross R6 2013 & Drifting - Lydden Hill

This is a very belated post, but given that I attended the RallycrossRX round at Loheac the week after this happened, I sorted through the pictures for that first!

Anyway, about a month ago the British Rallycross Championship returned to Lydden Hill as part of the two day “Mayhem” event. My first post contains all the Rallycross pictures and I shall follow that up with some drifting shots (once I’ve finished uploading them!).

Marc Scott celebrating another win in the RX150’s.

The Retro Rallycross Challenge seemed a bit processional when it first started, but there is some serious racing in the class now. It’s hard to beat the icons of rallycross…

…so some of the drivers were really trying!

Picture came out a bit rubbish, but first corner chaos during the third set of heats…

Tommy Graham’s stunning looking Mk.2 Escort…

…sadly he threw it down the field later in the day.

Liam Doran had looked quick at times in the heats, but an electrical gremlin kept slowing him down…

…come final time though, he was gone. Still not sold on him, but no questioning that he is a quick driver and his team have built a very competitive car.

That’s it for the rallycross, drifting photos to follow!

Cheers, glad someone is reading them!

As promised, some photos of the other part of the Mayhem show, the drifting.

Unlike last years show, the drifting had been added to the programme in the form of a proper competition rather than just a free-for-all, which was much better.

Nathan Chivers LS2 powered PS13:

I’m not going to lie: the sound of this car gives me the horn!

(missing front bumper can be seen making its escape in the background!)

I had no idea that Darren McNamara was running until I saw his car in the paddock, read quite a bit about his 13B powered AE86, so it was cool to finally see it in action.

Eventual winner of the Mayhem drift competition was Michael Marshall in his 2JZ powered BMW.

The car is road legal and was driven to Lydden, thrashed everyone on track, then driven home again!

Its running a supercharged LS2 V8 (which is 6.0L I think?). Can't remember the exact power output, but I'm sure its in excess of 450BHP. It sounds savage.

Cheers mate. Was trying to shoot at lower shutter speeds than normal and I thought that one came out the best of the lot as well.
