Dismantling and Re-Assembly of Conservatory - Tips

Have always aimed to bung a conservatory on the back of the house, but it was while off due to the expense and other more important DIY projects.

However our neighbour has just submitted a planning application for an extension and asked if we would want their old conservatory....oh yes was the answer (although not talked price yet, but bound to be alot cheaper then I was expecting to pay for a new one).

However, I will have to dismantle and store it for a while until I can get a dwarf wall built.

My question is, how easy are they to dismantle.
I assume they are just bolted to the house, wall and each other.

Are the bolts accessed under the sealed units i.e i will have to remove the windows, or are they likley to be under trim panels.

Also how is the roof likley to be secured,it is a poly/plastic frosted roof.

The Conservatory is a traditional UPVc Victorian style and approx 10x10 with double french doors in one side. It is about 5-6 years old.

i am sure someone on here can confirm but i think if take all the glass out and roof panes you will find that there is only screws holding it together.Sometimes if you cant see any screws they will be under the trim panels

no you would have to take out all the windows to dismantle as we just sold ours due to an extension and the guys that brought it removed it as well(which was a nice result),and had to take out all glass first to unbolt panels you just need to be really carefull not to damage all the plastic beading round windows when removing!!!

as said becarefull not to mark beads, cover pieces... As they get brittle in time and sometimes arnt designed to come back out easy

ive had customers ask me to do this and ive never done it as it can be a load of grief... I just use a club hammer and then put a new one up

Remember plenty of clear sealant!!!
