Default Top Gear - filming request

Short notice as I received an email from the BBC to admin@southeastscoobies.co.uk on Tuesday but it went into my junk folder so didn't show up on my phone!

Quote:
Hi there,

I work for BBC Top Gear magazine and we are assembling some Japanese performance car legends for a shoot next week. It's at Rockingham, and we'd be looking for a late 90s/early 00s Impreza that was standard (or very close to it). Do you know anyone willing to help please? Car will only be driven gently, no timing or anything like that!

Thank you
Stephen

stephen.dobie@bbc.com
I suggest if anyone is interested, then reply to Stephen at his email address directly, letting him know you're on South East Scoobies. I've got no other details of what day next week it is....

Scott? Might be something Oliver would enjoy if you can escape work?

Although clean mines not that close to standard (if smaller wheels could fit it may be good enough, but we all know the issues with Brembo's) and I'm up't'north next week with work anyway.

Great chance for someone to get their car on tv, hopefully with SES stickers.

Got the following reply:

Quote:
Hi Steve

Thank you for getting back to me! I've since found a car for the shoot. If that changes and it drops out for any reason, I'll let you know.

Thanks for your help!
Stephen
Not completely clear if he got an email from one of our members which is going ahead, or whether he's contacted a load of clubs and got a response elsewhere. I suspect the latter, considering his email sat undetected for two days in my spam folder

Seems like the article was an attempt to get six of the most popular cars from the first Gran Turismo on track together...

...nice idea, but to do it properly they should have used JDM models! Full feature is in the latest issue of the magazine.

Surely the most popular was the Mazda Demio or Suzuki Wagon R as that's what everyone had to start with.

"had to" being the key there. Doesn't mean they were popular!

I dunno, once you get a stage 3 turbo in a Demio, do all the weight reduction, sort out the gearbox and suspension etc, they can be pretty nifty!

I got 100% completion and all gold licences on all Gran Turismo games up until GT6...
