Hi all, newbie from the hills of Wales!
Hi fellow Subaru owners,
I live in North Wales and own a couple of Subaru's. One of them is a Series McRae and the other is a 1991 Legacy Saloon (same shape as Colin's Rothmans Legacy) I have always wanted a Subaru and I finally got one in 2008 when I bought my Legacy JUST for the McRae Gathering that was being organised. There was NO WAY ON EARTH I was going to miss that event so I searched the net for a cheap Subaru, didn't care what it was and I ended up with a great 91 2.2 Legacy which I bought for £200. I still have this car and use it for the winter months to save using my Series McRae. After that event I offered my help to the McRae Vision and ended up having my car on display at various events whilst I helped sell raffle tickets for them. 12 months down the line I thought to myself, I need to do more than this so I decided to organise a show here in North Wales to raise money for the Colin McRae Charity. That was of course the first McRae Weekender. A very brave move but I just had to do something in return for the thrills that Colin bought to me and millions of others over the years. That event in 2011 was a great event and we all managed to raise over six thousand pounds for the charity. I was over the moon and could not believe the generosity of Colin's fans and I couldn't wait to hand the cheque over to Jimmy McRae at the Colin McRae forest rally later that year. Since that event I have continued to help at various Motorsport events and got to know some great people along the way. Often getting approached by Subaru owners asking 'When are you going to do another Weekender?' A few years later I finally decided to do another one so this is where we are today, me on my computer, writing emails, sorting out the website and planning all the things for the Tour and Show. Lots of hours of planning ahead of me but it's well worth in the end. This years event is gaining pace very quickly and at this early stage it's looking to be another great weekend. I hope to see you all at the there and I will try and get time to get round and speak to everyone, Kind regards and have a safe trip, Justin Hinchliffe justin@seriesmcrae.com www.seriesmcrae.com |
