Default Exhaust: Prodrive or Cobra Sport?

Hi all,

I have here two exhausts as per title - originally I bought the Cobra but before I had fitted it I saw this Prodrive which I wanted.

I was going to sell the Cobra but wanted to clean it as it was a bit manky, in the end I cleaned both up.

I have just spent 4 hours at work using their compressed air and a three stage stainless polish/buffing kit.

I carried out the folowing on each exhaust:

1. Prepared with a course Sisal 2 section buff pad & coarse polishing compound.

2. Hard buff pad & intermediate polishing compound

3. Soft buff and finishing polish compound

Both are infinitely better now, the large majority of damage caused by polishes like Autosol or cleaning using wire wool has been fixed.

Now, my problem is that since they are both properly nice looking, I can't decide on which to use on my car!

I don't want overly loud, just a little louder than my OE STi box I have at the minute.

Both exhausts have 2.5" pipework with 3" exits, both are rolled tipped and look similar.

My question to everyone is - which would you choose?

Prodrive:

Cobra:

Chris you really need to get out more!!! Both of those silencers are cleaner than they would be from new.

If you bring both of them over we can fit one at a time for you to see which one you prefer.

With Anger.

Its all down to personal preference.

I have the Prodrive box that sounds ok when driving quite quickly, but it is more refined,

I also have a Vortex afterburner that makes my scoob sound like a scoob.

I can not comment on the Cobra as I have not heard it.

I had a vortex on my old classic, very nice. What I had on my car till recently was some montrous 3" catback with a 4" pipe.

I wanted something different (a bit quieter too ) so put the car back to stock, which I do like but am after just a little more noise.

Hey Bigemp - I had a notification on SN saying you had left a comment or someting but the link they sent wouldn't work so I never found out what it was. I wasn't being rude

Anyways, Dan @ SSS very kindly squeezed me in last minute and satisfied my curiosity - saved me waiting a week too!

First box on was the Cobra, sounded nice on tick over. Dan took it up the road so I could hear properly and, well, the Cobra is still on there now.

I may try the Prodrive one but to be honest it's not very likely - the set i have at the mo which is 2nd decat, straight through centre & of course the Cobra does indeed sound absolutely right. Almost, if not exactly what i was after.

Looks like the Prodrive will be up for sale soon, sad though coz I do like that one.

Cheers anyway again for the sale, you're right it did clean up rather well. Those black marks you said about were a **** to get out though but worth the effort.

Anyways, jobs a good'un. Cheers Dan for sorting that out!
