How can you tell a couterfeit note. To late for me to buy anything from ebay to test notes with.

they have got very clever now....check the water mark under UV light is your best bet.

Each note has a pound sign that is split between both sides and is only complete when you hold it up to the light. If it's fake, they don't normally line up properly. Oh, and the Queens head watermark quite often looks like Camilla Parker Bowles if it's fake....

I know years ago the Ink used on legit notes never completely dried. Rub the coloured bit on a piece of paper, if it leaves a mark (same colour) it's real. If it doesn't, it's not. Hopefully that still applies.

mrs works for a bank and said where it spelt say (ten pounds) it should be raised and also on the bottom right hand corner of new notes there are lots of number 10's etc on again for a £10 note and so on they should be raised as well

On the £20 there that good u cant tell but when u offer it up against a propa one the fakes are a slightly darker ink!!!
