Default World Rallycross Championship R4 2017 – Mettet

My second World Rallycross excursion of the year, this time to Belgium for the fourth round of the Championship. Here come the pictures…

Lars Oivind Enerberg won in the Touring Cars, leading the entire pack off the line in the final.

Ken Block had his best result of the year with eighth overall. Having finished as high as fourth in some of the qualifiers, he was unlucky not to make it to the final.

2016 British Rallycross Champion Dan Rooke was entered in the RX2 (formerly RX Lite) class. Rooke drove superbly, qualifying second and finishing second in the final. He currently shares the lead of the RX2 Championship!

Timmy Hansen was unusually aggressive with his driving, clipping curbs and skimming the tyre walls.

Andreas Bakkerud qualified well and looked like he might threaten for a podium spot, but he was taken out in the final and ended his day watching from the side of the track.

Petter Solberg led the final for the first lap, but Timmy Hansen passed him at the end of lap two. Hansen looked like he might win, but a puncture in the last lap slowed him…

…and Johan Kristoffersson, who had taken an early joker lap, snatched the lead on the last corner of the last lap.

It was the best final of the year so far and the win for Kristoffersson has really levelled the Championship out. I hope we get more of the same in Lydden this weekend!

Both the Focus RS RX seem to be running quite soft setups, especially Block!

The opening shot is my fave of the weekend - and this year thus far - as I saw Timmy clipping the tyres and curb I was already hoping the shot would come out!
