Default Wiscombe hill climb

Another event today, I'm doing the wiscombe park hillclimb in Devon. Done a couple of practice runs so far, leading my class 😁

Hoping to knock another couple of seconds off this afternoon when the track is a bit drier, I'm getting wheelspin at both the hairpins!

Here's a video of one of my runs, the trees played havoc with the GPS signal so it went a bit wonky on the fastest run. This one was 48.9 or so.

You should be coming to Germany, you would love the local roads in the area.

Looks good fun! Would love to get involved in competing myself one day. Have spoke to a few Sevenoaks Motor Club members before now, on a stand they had at a show.

What did you use to create those effects with "G" and speedometer on the screen? Very nice video.

I'm in the Sevenoaks club, you should join! It's only £20-odd quid a year and it gets you into pretty much any events in the South East, since we're part of the Association of SE Motor Clubs. To do sprints and hillclimbs you need to get an MSA 'Speed' licence, but it's easy, no medical required, just fill in the form and pay your £45 quid or so. You'll need an approved helmet and overalls, but you can pick them up cheap on ebay or borrow some if you can find someone the same size as you.

I use a laptimer app on my phone, RaceChrono Pro. It records the GPS location to work out speed and G, and you sync it up to the video later. It could record video when I'm doing the lap but I haven't got a secure enough phone mount to use while driving on track.

I did that overlay quickly so might go back and add rev counter and map stuff to it as well. Altitude would be good too, if I recorded the data.

Absolutely, would love to – dates keep clashing with other stuff I'm doing, plus would like to bring my son along but can only do that in half term.
