Just a little update, car hasn't been running properly lately, lumpy idle, hesitation at 2500rpm and crap fuel consumption

Simon (JGM) came round yesterday and it seems my lambda sensor has packed up, Simon did have a spare sensor but unfortunately it was the wrong one

For a laugh i phoned Subaru and they wanted £242.45 , on the advice of Simon i got in contact with http://www.lambdasensor.com/ and they are sending me one for the grand total of £69 inc delivery

Be careful there Granby!!!!!

Remember that you are a Pilot Officer, and Mr X is in fact "CAPTAIN X", who holds the rank of, well er, CAPTAIN.

And he could have you for insubordination and rudery grade 5, no less!

Also he has his inflatable trousers remember, and you don't want to get on the wrong side of those!!

Brought to you by the "Bureau of Helpful Hints on Avoiding Insubordination and the Like". There are no fees for this service.

I just had to post as it was the 1000th viewing of this thread. And it isd a bloody good one.

On a random (ish) topic. Ian, I only found out today that the orignal British Forces code name for the original Gulf War was "Operation Granby".

Is that where the name comes from?

Steve

I think we should organise an "Operation Granby", and carry it out in the road you used to live in. It might be quite noisy!

Me and Martyn don't actually know how to change thread titles.

We had a visit from the "spelling Police" last night to tell us how we had mis-spelt Nurburgring. But we can't seem to change the titles.

There is however a potentially massive op coming up?

Well it seems we may have finally sorted out the running issues I've had with the car lately, Simon (JGM) came round yesterday to switch the lambda sensor back on after i changed it

When we were driving he noticed that it was reading lean all the time (was reading rich last time) and he didn't want to leave it like that as the ECU would probably want to chuck in a load of fuel to compensate

After a bit of head scratching i suggested could the old CEL fix that was fitted by Xtreme Scoobies a few years back when i first had a decat be the problem as this was a resistor across 2 of the wires leading to the ECU

Simon removed the resistor and rejoined the wires and away we went again and now the lambda sensor was changing from rich to lean to rich etc as it should be

The car now drives a lot better and now does actually idle without any hunting so fingers crossed it's all sorted

I would like to say a big thank you to Simon for his patience in dealing with this issue and hopefully the next time i see you will be for a bit more power (meths)
