Default Hot Water

Hi , On way home from work today today my temp gauge went up near the top , after about 2 mile it went back to normal , i was giving it a bit of stick, Ashford to Hastings 35 mins Car sitting on drive temp went up again with fans on , after car turned off for 1/2 hour went driving around town temp gauge stayed normal . Have i killed it or does this happen when u give it too much welly ? car is standard 95 wrx . Thanks .

I forgot to add water was bubling in expansion bottle thingy.

check to see if bottom hose is hot? if still cold thremostat.

If it is head gasket , has any one got any idea of costs to put right or has any one had this happen to their scoob ?
