WW1 Pics, last Batch

This is the final batch of pictures from the recent trip to France and Belgium.

Starting with 2 graves of soldiers killed in action on 11th November 1918.
































This next shot is taken from the trenches where the Australians launched an assault on the German lines, and were massacred by the German machine gun nests. These are one of the few trenches that have not been preserved and fenced off. The memorial in the background is in remeberance of this massacre.










The next picture shows the site of the Red Barons Crash Site. This is just a crop of the picture above!





















Finally, this is the 150 year old farmhose we stayed in and our group. The last pic was the view from my bedroom window.

Mike would prefer smaller groups of 4-6 people, so that he can give real details to everyone and answer individual questions a lot easier.

The good thing by keeping smaller groups and a smaller vehicle is that he can get to lots of places that coaches and minibuses can't. Some of the places we visited, if they did it on coaches and buses, there was sometimes a 20 - 30 minute walk to the site each way. Mike just bombed straight up the narrow lanes.

I can't recommend the whole thing highly enough. To be honest, I would suggest going with good friends or partners.

Nice pics there m8. A handy tip id give you if your gonna tinker with them in photoshop is Shadow/Highlight tool. Its my favourite tool when editing photos because it adds so much detail that you would normally loose in the dark shadows.

I usually dodge and burn a little to try and get this right. I'm still getting to grips with what photoshop can do to be honest.

No probs! Dodge and burn is useful for adjusting smaller areas but for a quick and easy way of enhancing a photo just go image > adjustments > shadow/highlight and enjoy!

That brings back memories.

I spent 2 days over there with my school at the Somme.

The smell of mustard gas still lingers in some of the trenches.
