Cheeky git that was after a days polishing!

In all honesty paint is very tired and needs a couple of passes with a DA or rotary but as I don't have one it was all good old fashioned elbow grease!

I know AG products are not the best but 3 for 2 at Halfrauds coupled with lack of time to mail order forced my hand (plus I'm running low on my poor boys bits so saved them for mine!)

Car was clay barred twice as it was so filthy (should have got some de-tarring product for the lower doors in hindsight) then polished with AG super resin and spot polished with Meguilers Scratch X. Given a coat of AG extra gloss protection then topped off with Poorboys Nattys blue paste wax.

Bloody pain to clean the roof and the 1/3 sun roof, need to invest in a small step now!

Think a Kestral DAS 6 in in order to give the paint work a good correction and I'll be repainting the wheels soon plus getting a new back box (Hayward and Scott)

Spec wise the car is fully loaded:
  • Panoramic sun roof
  • Cruise control
  • Hill holder
  • Self levelling rear suspension
  • Air con
  • Hundreds of storage compartments

So far I've done an oil and air filter change checked all other fluids etc. need to change plugs and drain/refill coolant plus get a new fuel filter to be 100% up with the servicing.

Not quite confident with a rotary, would like to try my hand at the safer DA first but thanks for the offer!

Not sure but Don1952 (www.subaruforester.org) will know, and don't bother with H&S exhaust go for a newage STi exhaust or a prodrive type. I'll post up our exhaust set up on here soon.

Be good to see, as I understand it the hangers need a bit of adjustment and the exit comes up a little short, be good to see how one looks fitted as a second hand impreza box will be far cheaper than a new H&S!

We ran a newage Prodrive bb on ours and needed longer hangers as it touched the bumper when we first tried it. Also the exit was around 4" short. So may get the bumper a tad warm on motorway runs.

For that year led to believe they run the TD03, the smallest of the TD range, so even strapping the wrx's old 04 and a map would be a good upgrade. Great cars though, ample room and the rear seats lay almost flat!!

We had the auto with winter pack (leather, heated seats and front screen etc)

Enjoy!

Shame ive not got the 04 from the bug lieing about, like a lot of parts it wouldhave gone straight across!

Think we may have a heated front screen, as we have the heated seats (not leather) bt we do have two screen demist buttons. Not sure it's the OE front screen so may not have the feature anymore

And so it begins.......

5% rears, 20% rear doors, 70% (measured) fronts.

Started sorting the sounds out today, transplanted the front speakers from the bugeye, will be adding the amp and a stealth 8' sub later on.

Stage 1 was to remove the front door cards, the speaker grilles clip off but otherwise it's very similar to an impreza.

Then I stripped the inner liner and removed the speaker plus the mount.
Stage 2 was to make up a spacer to take the 6.5' midrange, by tracing around the original mount (or speaker in a impreza) and cutting a spacer out of 16mm MDF, this was then trial fitted and clearances checked.

Stage 3 was to bond the spacer to the door skin using P40 filler, I'd stood the spacer off the door skin slightly to allow good clearance behind.

Stage 4 (after a bit of sanding) was to fit the sound deadening material to the inner skin, this involved making sure the wires were all run correctly.

Stage 5 as the speakers are pretty high end (CDT components with front mounted magnets) the crossovers are a bit bulky I fitted them to the inside of the door card and by using an off cut of the sound deadening I was able to mount the main tweeter to the back of the card as well. I will fit the imaging tweeters to the A pillars later on to lift the soundstage further if needed.

Stage 6 was to refit the door card.

Sound is so much better now!

Nice work going on there. Car looks stunning. We had a silver S-Turbo for a few years and loved it. If you still have Geolander tyres on it, the handling can be improved hugely by fitting alternatives.

Is the vf 29 for an impreza or is it different?

The plan is to do a stealth fit for the sub so as not to loose any boot space, fitting the sub into a custom box in the rear wing storage box.

Got a bit more done with the stereo today, bit of a PITA as the car is the winter pack version so had no where to relocate the bright, headlight wash and headlight leveling switches as all the other spaces are filled! Also had to replace the 12v socket as the OE one was faulty.

The switches have been relocated to the ashtray needs a little tidy up on the 'pocket' and I may put a second socket in there to give it a purpose.

Another couple of jobs ticked off the list today, coathanger ARB replaced with StevePPP's old WRX 20mm bar and also had a rear wheel bearing replaced so you can hear the stereo now!

Totally transformed the car, got to ask why they didn't come like that from the factory! Much more confidence on turn in now car feels much 'pointyer' if that's a word!

Well I can confirm that the fit is as good as the finish! If I hadn't snapped the bolts on the cat to centre section joint it would have only taken me an hour tops - as it was I had to pop to the local motor factors (2 min walk) and make up some temporary bolts.

Yes I know it needs a new rear bumper really!

Nice, so the fozzy now sounds like a proper scoob?

Lovely tone, sounds like a scoob but not intrusive when driving.
