Hey guys. Thanks for all the Hello's

My first question is ... any recommendations for tuning shops?
Close to southampton would be preferable.
Obviously i want to get my car mapped asap to run the new turbo. Any problems running it on a standard map?

Yes, don't whatever you do put your foot down and come on boost, really you want to be driving straight to get it mapped.

Cheers for the advice chrisp. Obviously i don't wanna have anymore failures on my car, so i guess my first trip WILL be to get it mapped.

Know anyone good near southampton?

Closest that I know of would be Bob Rawle in Swindon or JGM who travels and also spends most Wednesdays at Surrey rolling road just off the m3 junction near bagshot

You have options with your car also, open source map or ecutek are the remap your existing ECU, open source is considerably cheaper as you don't have to pay license fees.
Duncan at race dynamics travels as well and does this I think. Best bet is to get in touch with a few mappers and see what they suggest. Quite a few travel

Subaru4you in Newbury are pretty good with the spanners, Simon does a lot of their mapping.

Good work! Have you checked the oil in the sump since the turbo blew? Might be worth running a magnet through it to check if any of the turbo bits got into the oil.

Good shout with the magnet. I'll run one round the sump and order a magnetic one. Im gonna go an oil change after 1k to make sure as much **** as possible is cleared from the lines.

Anyone had any problems with mobile 1 fully synthetic 5/30?

The hand book says 5/30 with energy saving properties.

Mobile 1 meets the requirements but i know its not popular.

Finally got the turbo sat in place. The hose had split quite a bit, so i trimmed it off, some how from taking 3mm off i have a 15mm gap Im thinking of getting it as far over the shoulder as possible, then using some self emalgimating tape to secure it in place before doing up the jubilee clip? So like an ok mod/fix till i get the cash for a new intake?

I will give Simon aka jgm a shout about mapping. Unfortunately due to budget/paying for tax and insurance in one month I'll be doing all the mechanics myself in the car park at my girlfriends flat much better places to be, but at least IM getting to install my first big turbo

Speak To Alyn at ASPerformance about your oil mate. What he doesn't know, isn't worth knowing!

I think i'm using 10w 60 at the mo

Thought I'd already posted this but I have two spare OE intakes here if you want one, either drop to a meet or cover postage?

As for oil, go for Millers, Fuchs or Motul. I run Miller 10w50, used to run the Fuchs before that.

Hello bluebugeye. Are you serious!?! If i you have a spare inlet pipe/manifold that i could have that would be amazing. I'll pm you some details? Just to clarify its the plastic/rubber one that runs from the air box into the turbo. I though scooby owners were a nice bunch, but i never expected an offer of a free spare part. Thanks alot

Hello Charlie. I went for the 400bhp mdx555. I was kinda pushed to find a turbo quickly as i need my car for work, its my daily driver
So price was an issue, also i wanted to keep the original boost characteristics. I had a vf35 before and no one wants to rebuild them, so for an extra few £ over a replacement vf35 i think i have got myself a much better quality turbo
