You do however run the risk of blowing your car up rushing down there

Remember, it's a bank holiday weekend, it will be busy all weekend. Friday IMHO won't be any different this year.

You can always fly down with Nige though, while the rest of us cruise down there

Steve mate,

It was very unfortunate with what happened to yours the first year but your scoob is now sorted.

Personally I cant see the point of having 400+ horses and only using 10 of them??

One of the best things about the trip for me is having a laugh on the way and on the way back.

Not being board out your brains driving at 70mph.

I personally think it will be near on impossible to keep everyone together being as there are so many of us.

Perhaps it would be better to have a slow and an even slower group.

Ian, 400 horses and only using 10 has got nothing to do with it really mate This year there will be lots of people who will be going for the first time. You know what it's like the first time you go down there, I will be doing what I can to keep them together, the same as I have every year.

It won't be like when people just piss off and leave others at the side of the road broken down. As some people have done in previous years.

We will cruise down at 80-85 ish, the same as last year and the year before.

You can crack on, if you don't want to go with the main group, that's your choice. I can't see what the issue is really.

I like the option really. May 80/85. Sept 90/100. I'm crap as you lot have found out with my directions. I do like to have a blatt though when we see a Porker or such like. Thing is I'm still lost at the end of the blatt

We will sort It out no probs it will still be a fantastic laugh. We dont want three groups going there or back. Newbies need looking after on route & I don't mean lots of toilet stops eighther ! You will be left behind top gear style. When my turbo bust I had friends there to help & I will do the same for others. Hopefully nothing will happen that way this year. :EVO:

Top bananas mate, that's what it's all about

There was never any intention of Miss Daisy drives to Germany. It's a case of looking after the group, watching you disappear after the porkers, GTR's, Lambo's etc and waiting for that "where the fook am I" phone call

It'll sort itself out, it always does

I have put Ian's post down to him having a sugar rush or something

The French are the worst ones, although Ian did get a "friendly word" last year from a traffic rozzer in Smellgium

On the unrestricted parts of the Autobahn, everyone will have a blat

The nice policeman was just saying hello nice scoob, and showing me his pretty lights.

The 1st year we went overall was a nice pace,

The 2nd year was very slow, until something fell off the lead car.

Last year was at a nice pace also apart from the person that was drinking a 2ltr bottle of tango. You missed out on that Mr Worzel

We have always in the past started together and arrived together.

As you say things will sort themselves out, if I was not looking forward to this my forth trip I definitely would not be going.

With 22 cars its going to be interesting that's for sure.

I just hope there are not any vehicle failures.

Top man

I really liked doing that last year, it makes that journey so much nicer.

Any ideas of where?

We stopped in Louvan for a few hours after leaving Brussels, that was lovely there.

We were thinking of Ghent or Leuven (after your recommendation last year) or failing that, heading into Germany to somewhere on the Rhein again (maybe Koblenz). Plenty of options

I'm think I'm going to head to Anterp on my September trip this year, my great uncle who I'm named after died there and Ive found where his grave is in the Royal Navy grave yard, only 18 when he died and was only his second day fighting on the front line

The Records Office at Kew is a good place to find things. They would probably have his service history paper too.

Like you, I am well into Military History, WWI mainly, I have been doing some research on Crowborough soldiers killed in the great war and plan to visit the Grave sites in years to come.

Be Careful in France - They are really clamping down.

Last year my bother got caught doing 100mph in a 60 zone, and it ended up costing him approx 4000 euro, and his pride and joy impounded for nearly 12 months, and 2 visits to a court. Plus the loss of the use of the car over what was supposed to be a petrol head driving weekend. And if as a group we didn't stump up 1400 euro in cash on the spot, he would have gone to jail there and then.

So be warned - Things can get a little more nasty than a slapped wrist and a modest on the spot fine.

Exactly Rob. This is why I would rather cruise down there. Like you say, they are really hot on this kind of thing.

I would expect they know it's a long weekend on the Ring so "La Rozzers" will be out in numbers. Once you hit the derestricted Autobahns you can go as nuts as you like. But it's just too risky to go silly beforehand.

Take note everyone

I would expect they know it's a long weekend on the Ring so "La Rozzers" will be out in numbers. Once you hit the derestricted Autobahns you can go as nuts as you like. But it's just too risky to go silly beforehand.

Take note everyone
Steve, I just thought I tell you this although the last thing I want to is to spoil you guys' fun. But when you are innocently involved in an accident on a derestricted Autobahn and were doing more than 130 km/h you are automatically be found (at least) partly guilty. The so called recommended speed is 130 km/h at a derestricted section and if you do more than you have to be aware that you will get (partly) blamed for an accident if - for instance - some idiot pulled out in front of you much to closely and you couldn't brake early enough.

Don't get me wrong, I also love the derestricted sections, I only wanted to make sure you guys are aware of what can happen (hopefully not). But maybe you know this anyway.

Thanks for that heads up Kerstin, I didn't know that, so it's good to have in the memory banks.

After 4 hours in the car, by the time we get to the de-restricted sections, most people only have a "little play".
