Default Carbon canister removal

Hi guys. After some fiddling the other day I managed to damage the little black carbon canister under the bonnet on my classic import ra. Now I remember seeing somewhere before that after 10 years of use they don't work anyway, and that they can be removed....has anyone done this and would u have pics of what you have done? Thanks in advance

Think I've got one off a V5/6 in the garage, came off Sims RB5 when the Air Con was removed, not sure if it will fit or not.
