Default Dilemma

I have had my WRX for around 13 years and not much left of the original except the engine which is running 350 and I think has a knock. I'm sure the ring trip had nothing to do with it and I need to sort front brakes. So choices
1 Have a rebuild
2 Get a Sti engine
3 2.1
4 break it.

Hard one really, I do love it but is it time to move on ?.

I'd go with a 2.1 built into your block (as long as it's ok) full build with Cosworth gaskets and unrated studs as well as pistons, rods and crank.

If you go STI you will have the issue of not having the ECU for the AVCS, I know you can run with it disconnected but you'll always feel like you need to sort it out which then means aftermarket ECU and more expense.

Keep it you can Steve, I'm to sentimental to give an unbiased answer but do hate to see these cars broken but understand why they do.

Drop an STI block in,that would be the simplest and cheapest way,or if you are feeling like you have cash to burn then a 2.1 forged rebuild would be the way to go.SJ.
