Default SES Visit a Vulcan

What a smashing day! Here are some highlights.

Impressed with the turn out - there were hundreds there!


First taxi run

It was a fantastic day, especially as for the last three years, they have not managed the second taxi - the "fast taxi" - due to technical problems. The engines in this Vulcan are rated 20000 lb ft thrust - and are more powerful than those in XH558 (the one that flies) which are rated 17000 lb ft thrust - and they make an awesome sound under full chat - spine tingling in fact.

Unfortunately XM655 will never fly, but is maintained in almost flying condition and is an immense credit to the small band of "Chaps" who look after it. It lives outside all year round as well!!

The car display was also surprising good!!!

Great pics, sir Keith, nice one, makes me a bit home sick, you can see the vulcan at Wellsbourne anytime if you go along to the market which is just next door, any saturday and bank holiday.

Looking forward to Fairford now on the 17th July, raptors and every available flying 2ww fighter plane will be going including ME108 and ME 109s, bring it on

We had the Eurofighters doing a display at the Moto GP yesterday... The sound was awsome
