Default Dipstick reading!?

Hi folks, recently picked up my new impreza, have driven it 4 times since i've had it, haven't given her any beans yet as still getting used to driving the car!

I've just checked the oil 30 mins after driving it and the dipstick isn't even registering any oil!!? i've got no warning lights coming up, oil temp gauge normally sits between 70-80 and there's no smoke of any sort coming from the exhaust apart from an occasional dark grey/black puff when changing gear at about 5-5500 rpm...

any ideas or is it possible the car is actually out of oil!? never owned an impreza before so don't know how much or how regularly the oil needs to be topped up

Any advice would be great or i'll just take it to a garage for a once over!

Cheers

Hi.
A tuned impreza will use a little oil, and needs keeping an eye on.
Top the oil up to the correct level then keep an eye on it.

One thing to think about is what oil it's running, as it's likely to be fully synthetic, it's not good to mix oil types. If in doubt, I would do an oil change

Has it got an oil cooler fitted? If so that could be playing with the reading on the dipstick. But agree with Crowman, a set of eyes over it and a fresh oil change certainly can't hurt!

thought i'd leave the car over night and check the oil again from cold, still couldn't make out whether there was no oil or not as it either left a smear up the dipstick or wouldn't read anything..... was off today so went up to SlowBoy racing at brands on the off chance they'd have some oil or could give me some advice...... Wow i was impressed! the guy there stopped what he was doing and came and had a look at the car and a chat, he ended up putting 2 litres of oil in the car for me and said they'd be happy to service the car for me and give it the once over for any other concerns i might have..... going to book it in over the next week or so! Very friendly and professional!

Happy days!

If the check engine light didnt flash, then it atleast didnt knock, JGM normally sets the knock quite low

Default Some quick history

I bougt the car as a TSL Sti 333. Its similar to the Prodrive pack for the Sti but a bit more power & Tourque 333bhp & 333ftlb.
I then had it de catted 3ins down pipe Harvy Smith up pipe & front mount ic + a new Turbo from Scooby clinic. The car has always been maped by Scott on here. I then bought another Sti that had just been fitted with a new 2.5 lump. So engine's were swapt & more maping done. The car when i had it wanted for nothing. Alway's top brand oil's & Filters. Ott i know but oil was changed every 500 miles. A good car & i still miss it.

I did like it. It made the same sort of noises as Angers you know all that whosh bang pssssssst wolf whistle stuff. By far it's best trick was to launch flames & on over run would try & light up the boot
Good car sold it to my daughter.
