Default Fan stuck on

Was driving to work this morning and my check engine light came on due to the fans starting up and not turning back off? It's not overheating and has plenty of water in it, it's weird as it started while driving on a dual carriage way so wouldn't of needed to cut in in the first place? Anyone know what this could be?

Sounds like your water temp sensor could be shot

If it is the sensor its located in the the water transfer pipe under the manifold, just a bit tight to get to.

as above, temp sensor. there are 2 under the manifold where midlife is describing. the smaller one is the temp gauge, the larger one is the one that could be at fault.

Think mine was something like £20 when i got a new one, but it was a while ago so i forget.

Before you change it though, have you had any cooli system pipes off anywhere? just to elliminate something else getting desturbed n possibly causing the problem.

You can do a fault code before you drive. its easy to do then find out whats wrong it could be,
it shouldnt be a problem depending what the error most of them will be ok to drive off boost and below 3k to home but there are some you dont want to be driving on.
Do you know how to do a fault code find?
