Default Forum downtime - Sunday 30th December - NOW COMPLETED

SES will be offline on Sunday 30th December to make some improvements to the database. We'll be starting work about 9am (with coffee in hand!) and hope to have everything sorted by about 1-2pm.

When the new Admin team emailed all members back in September, we said:
Quote:
We have managed to recover a stable version of the database which contains the threads lost when the previous Admin team encountered problems and rolled back (threads dated May 2011 - June 2012). We *hope* to be able to merge these back into the live SES database.

We've been working on this behind the scenes and have managed to successfully merge the current live SES database with the missing data in an offline test forum. The Admin and Moderator team have been testing this to make sure everything is working OK over the last week and we're happy to now repeat the process on the Live forum. If everything goes to plan, then all missing posts will be restored and available. As part of the recent testing, we discovered the amount of lost data - 4,294 threads and 44,375 posts. I don't think any of us realised how much had gone but it'll certainly be great to have this missing data back in the forum and searchable again. We'll be taking a backup of everything before we start so if anything does go wrong, we'll just roll back.

Most members will also notice their post count increase, as the forum will recalculate them based on the restored data

Thanks to everyone for your patience! The database work is now complete - and all of the missing posts are now restored, as you can see below:

Before database merge:

After database merge:

Some points to note:

- The restore included private message (PM) data. PMs that were lost or deleted during the June 2011 - June 2012 period will now be back in your PM Inbox/Sent Items. This may now mean you have exceeded your PM messagebox size - please take a few minutes to delete old PMs if you no longer need them.

- Some users who originally joined SES between June 2011 - June 2012 would have needed to re-register as their original user account was deleted. These old user accounts have now been restored - but if you re-registered with a different username, they will not be associated. If you would like us to manaully link your user accounts together (to combine post counts etc) then please send a PM to PM Steve_PPP with the usernames.

If anyone notices any problems, please post a thread in the Site Problems/Suggestions section here:
http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...splay.php?f=37

Many thanks

Cheers mate.

And yes, the accounts got automatically linked if both the username and registered email address matched

Had a few dozen members who'd changed email addresses but they were easy enough to manually tally up afterwards.

.... looks like we had 10 minutes or so of problems just then. In case anyone was wondering, i didn't break it (Heart Internet's website, management portal and other customer sites we're offline too!).

Something else to add to the list when the hosting comes round to renewal time perhaps...

I know I posted some pics of the this years Ring trip but I'll be damned if I can find them, wonder if it's something to do with the change in user name.
