Default Final check list and travel arrangements 2015

Not long now !!!

Friday 22nd

06.20 Meet @ the Shell service station Junction 11 M20 (CT21 4GH)

06.40 Leave for Euro tunnel terminal. (2 minutes down the road)

06.45 Check in

07.36 Depart UK.

We will be stopping at the Shell garage/services @ Barchon Sud E40/E42 for breakfast and then convoy/play down to the Hotel

http://www.hotel-an-der-nordschleife.de/

Those who have been before will probably have most of this stuff already. For those who have not been before, the below list is invaluable. Most of the items in the "For The Car" section are actually law in Europe, so I would advise that you make sure that you do / have these things arranged.

I'm sure that most of you who have been before will have this stuff, but it's well worth double checking, just in case. Anything that you haven't got can be purchased at places like Halfords.
BLUE are the ones that are Law in Europe! Please remember that the breathalysers are a requirement in France .
But apparently there are no penalties for not having one

The Check List FOR THE CAR

1: Spare Bulb Kit
2: Warning Triangle
3: Hi Visibility Vests (1 for each person in car)
4: Headlight Beam Deflectors (see link below)
5: Fire Extinguisher
6: First Aid Kit

7: Octane Booster (personal choice)
8: Oil (optional but advised)
9: GB Sticker (if you dont have GB on your number plate)
10:Spare Key
11: Sat Nav (with European Data)
12: Crash Helmet (not compulsory)
13: European Insurance & Breakdown Cover (make sure it covers repatriation, just in case)
14: Track insurance (those insured with Keith Micheals, call Moley)
15: Driving License (including Paper Part)
16: Locking wheel nut tool
17: Tyre pressure gauge
18: Breathalyser kit

PERSONAL ITEMS
1: PASSPORT !!
2: Euro Tunnel confirmation e-mail with booking reference.
3: E 111 (optional additional health insurance)
4: Euro's and debit / credit cards (inform bank that you are away for safety)
5: Mobile Phone & Charger
6: Headache Tablets (trust me)
7: European Plug Adaptor
8: Walkie talkies ? (I will be bring the same 3 or more if I can acquire some)
9: Big bag of cash. Euros.

Those with TOM TOM's down load the shell garages onto your european maps. If you know of anything that need adding to this list, please feel free to add it.

Not long now getting excited !!.

We will be taking the route below.

Started to get some of the shopping list , geo will get done when car goes into the garage for a service and change the front droplinks for some whiteline ball joint ones and might get the suspension raised but handles pretty well as it is .

Just a thought, is everyone that's going got a smartphone and the WhatsApp app, if so we could have a private group on the app, it would be a good way to keep in touch as messages would go to everyone

Take both you never know you could run over something nasty and take out 2 tyres.
Once you get to the hotel you can leave anything you wish in a garage that we will have.

I take 4x wheels to Germany, as I suspect Big-E will aswell! You can strap them to the back seats and use the boot for luggage. If you really need to bring 2x spares that is I would say you only need the 1, or none!

Think I will bring X1 spare just to be safe as my car is going to be full of kit for Nick that I need to drop off to him on route to my hotel .

I will be taking one of my other sets.

None of them will fit a classic, I always carry my spare space saver, the I believe will fit a classic..

If you need it you would of course be more than welcome.

If anyone is short of triangle, high vis, fire extinguisher etc. I have all mine from last year that you can borrow, just replace anything that you use. I can send with E if needed.

I will need it all back though as have a trip planned myself later in the year.

When I ordered mine they arrived very quickly.
I expect you'll get them by Thursday.
for the sake of £3 it's worth taking a chance,
if they don't turn up you can get them at the garage..

Just to let you know the breathalyser fiasco was ended over a year ago so no longer a legal requirement. Hope you all have a safe trip.

Just a heads-up, we'll be following the same route as usual despite staying in Adenau this year. There was a couple of other ways but not much difference in it. Route here:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/50...a=!4m2!4m1!5i2

If anyone wants to plot the location of our fuel stop in Belgium into their satnav, its here:
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/50...e3!4m2!4m1!5i2

Bear in mind its nearly a 3 hour drive from Calais to this stop so fuel up in Ashford before getting on the train

1 more sleep!!!

Please be aware !!

Apparently the french have recently reduced their speed limits, and not all if any sat nav companies have up dated their maps. So keep an eye out for the speed limit signs.

The ring is opening earlier than normal tomorrow at 14.15.

Instead of stopping for an hour at the our usual services I would like to suggest that we make it just a pits stop,
ie: just stop for fuel, may be grab a sandwich/drink and a quick as they say "comfort break".

I will be having a good breakfast make up a flask of coffee and take a small packed lunch.

I hope this meets with everyone's approval please say if it doesn't.

ps. It looks like we might need to take some sun tan lotion.

Theres several stretches on the calais to Dunkirk road where the limits have been dropped by 20k. Theres one long stretch at 90 km/h (with cameras) that's very painful
