Default Bit of advice on a foz

So, I think I may have stumbled across my next scoob

Its a 2007 Fozzy STI that's for sale with MK Automobiles in Manchester. (feel free to look!) Its not the cheapest at £12k, but it says its had one owner, FSH, 57,000 miles and is immaculate. I appreciate I could probably buy one similar for 9/10k ish, but most have 90,000 miles on them and this will come with some sort of warranty, so for me I think its worth it. I will obviously make them an offer anyway.

Having never bought an import before, is there anything I need to be asking the dealer or looking for?. Any certificates it should have?. You read insurance can be dearer buy I'm guessing Gary can sort that.

Any advice welcome!.

Steve

If it's a,fresh import ask to look at the auction sheet.
Most dealers, will show u unless they are trying to hide something

Looks lovely mate.

It says in the description 'fresh jap import' so if its come over recently ask for documentation to prove the mileage (jevic certificate?) as well as auction sheets. It'll show as 90-something km on the dash anyway.

Really important to be able to prove the KM reading I would suggest, as otherwise when you come to sell it will be a bit of a minefield to prove the true mileage. Mine was imported with such low mileage I have just always treated it as being in miles, even though some will have been in KM. I'm the second UK owner and it had 23k miles when I bought it... now c86k miles, so a slightly different bias.

Check it's been properly converted too, i.e. now reads in MPH and records in miles!

If the car has been remapped in Japan I would want the dealer to have it mapped for UK fuel as whilst there is tolerance in the standard map, if it's been mapped to a higher RON fuel (102) it may not have tolerance for 99 RON on the bespoke tune. If you're going to tinker and have a remap anyway this may not be such a concern.

Other than that, it looks clean in the photos, so get it bought!

As to insurance, Gary will be able to sort that out for you. My current policy costs about the same as Mrs Stig's UK WRX Wagon (both have only minor mods). Certainly no JDM premium.

That is a very helpful reply, thanks matey. I'll give them a call and check it out but it looks to be a good car so fingers crossed it all adds up. Thanks again.

UPDATE....... GONE

They are getting a couple more in fairly soon, so I'll keep an eye out but he said it went instantly. Just shows what money can be obtained for a good car. The search continues but gutted as I was all ready to jump on a train for that.

That's a shame.

There are a few places bringing them in at the moment. I'll keep my peepers open for you.

There was an uber rare charcoal grey one recently which caught my eye.

That's a shame Steve, I remember when a certain wagon sold really quickly

Keep looking and the right one will come along, if it's for you arrange a returnable deposit over the phone and get to see it asap.
