Default Photo Editting Software (What Do You Use)

Can anyone recommend a good free/open source photo editing package for simple cropping, colour changing/correction etc....(not photoshop as it take to long to do anything in that)

I was using Microsoft Photo Gallery, but since moving 90% of my images onto external storage it doesn't run unless I connect the external storage, despite the fact that Photo Gallery isn't 'visibly' configured to use the external device as a folder.

I spent the whole of last evening trying to resolve by deleting old cache files, re-installing Photo Gallery and followed every online guide to resolve the error message (relating to Photo Galley failing to run due to 'some folders being offline').

So time to bite the bullet and un-install Photo Gallery and put something else on.....

Cheers.....

I used to do a lot of photo editing when I was young - the free program that I remember the most is called gimp, but I did mainly use photoshop.

Might want to check out gimp, not sure if it is what you're looking for though - http://www.gimp.org/

Not free, but Corel do some products which are fairly well priced.

Try picassa from google - it's a photo library but the editing tools inside it are pretty useful.
