Default New WRX STi

We are ready to order a new 2014 WRX STi. Only problem is the UK price is 29k and the French price is 36k. Anybody got any ideas how we can do it cheaper, we of course need a lefthand drive car.Wondering if we can purchase elsewhere in Europe (Holland/Belgium/Germany) or where ever its cheaper, than import into France.Any info very welcome, thanks.

Try Switzerland, when we drove through, there were Subaru dealers everywhere.

Were some not imported from malta or cyprus, though that was probably back when they had their own currency so that advantage has probably ceased. Do you reckon we could get a group buy going?

Plenty come into the UK from Malta/Cyprus, but thats because they drive on the left like us so they're easily sell-able in the UK

I thought most cars got stolen in the UK then shipped to Cyprus.

Cyprus used to buy a lot of Jap cars before joining EU and Euro, now they buy euro boxes.

Switzerland - I don't think they know the word Cheap do they?

Can you import cars into differet European countries without paying any import tax, I guess it makes sense that you don't.

Buying cars in Cyprus is very expensive,40% min import duty.I believe you can buy in any Eu country and than import(free market).First instance is to find which country is cheapest.Have emailed Subaru Euro headquarters, but no reply yet.Always thought Holland was a good bet.

Frenchie,

You'll have to get one of these and let Lorraine drive......
You can pretend to drive..... like Maggie in the Simpsons...
And Lorraine will probably keep your licence longer!

Sorry - I have no good advice re: buying

Definitely growing on me. I am sensing another black STI will be on the driveway very soon.

Recent reviews have been good. Just need to get behind the wheel of one and then place an order. The next question is COLOUR. These are the others that I would consider though black is still favourite I think.

Grey looks quite nice though too. And then there's blue.........

Grey.

Or blue if you think you can get away with still using it for work and not being too 'shouty'.

Not red, a lot of cars in that shade of red lately, and the Evo FQs come in that dark red too.

That's the WR blue pearl, then there is also a galaxy blue which is a bit darker (but still lighter than yours ) If I was to go for blue it would be the 'norm' WR. But it's going to be black for me in all probability... Or grey lol. Have you driven one yet terry?

The red Evo ressemblence is certainly clear to see although not a bad thing as I quite like them anyway

Read this earlier. Guess I must be one of the committed few!!! I'm actually pleased to hear that it's a bit ugly, a bit uncomfortable, a bit unrefined, a bit noisy and a bit lairy. That means it's everything I liked about my old one and one of the reasons I didn't buy anything German back then. I think with the pro r pack which is reported to add another 40 or so bhp, that should put it clear of the golf r's and s3's on performance and you can guarantee that it will be more involving to drive. Speaking of which, I must drive one, just in case it's none of the above!!! Spoken to culverwells and they reckon they'll have a demonstrator in 3/4 weeks.

There is a good half hour u.s review on you tube for it at the moment where they take it around Laguna seka. Worth a watch for anyone interested. It's still far more hard core than the other options which will appeal to some and not others.

They drone on a bit but it's quite a good review:

Dont get me wrong ive driven the sti 5 door and it drives fantastic, everything it should be but i guessits just every model that comes out has something we like and something we hate!
Hated bugeye headlamps hated hawkeye front and rear lights
Convinced myself to love a blobeye, then changed it to morretes lol
With the new models like most iconic cars they have taken the euro route in styling and lost
The tough street fighter image!
