Default Yet another issue

Sorry to be a bore guys and gals bit this car is now starting to do my head in now getting tired of not being able to use it properly.

Driving home last night and we lost temp inside and noticed temp gauge creeping up high pulled over rad fan on and switched off let it cool there was clearly water in reservoir so started back up and crawled home still same issue but we got home.

Went out this morning and checked level again added 2litres of coolant and tested.....
Still no heat inside car but again temp gauge rose! Turned round to head home and swap cars and as we got to driveway heard a hose pop and then low and behold temp dropped to normal operating and heat returned to inside! The hose which blew was the small one back to top of reservoir any ideas before it joins the scrap heap lol

This is the hose hear, is it possible there was a blockage somewhere as have been driving with no issue til now

Sounds like an air block or a sticking header cap not allowing circulation.

I'd drop the coolant from the radiator rain plug (possibly disconnect bottom hose to speed up drainage) then refill the system - I usually use the top radiator hose as per this method:

Start engine and let it start to warm up, set heater control to full hot ad run engine until it starts to blow hot (if possible).
Stop engine and allow to cool slightly.
Drain System (Open cap and drain from either radiator drain plug or disconnect bottom hose). Once drained close drain plug/reconnect hose!
Disconnect top radiator hose from Radiator side then pour water into the hose to very slowly fill the block side.
You will hear the Raditar start to fill, as soon as you get coolant at the top of the radiator (it will come out of the top hose connection) reattach the top hose.
Fill header tank VERY SLOWLY - some people recomend using the turbo coolant line at the rear of the tank pipe to fill the system, I generally just slowly fill the tank.
Start engine with header cap off - slowly top up though header until it wont take any more and starts to over flow.
Refit cap and make sure there is some coolant in the overflow tank to prevent air being sucked back in as the system cools.
Run the car up to temp and allow to cool, check levels and top up as required.

Thanks guys Scott T I have ordered a new cap it looked a little bit rusty and perished anyway and it would make sense If it were this as I could here water trying to get through a small gap and if the pressures built up in the pipe which popped off this would tie in with what you said I will make sure I keep you posted when the cap arrives which is hopefully tomorrow

Sounds like an air lock in the system. From cold (top coolent if needed) run the engine up with heater on full heat with cap off hold revs up a little 2 - 2.5k. While doing this keep eye on coolent level top up if it drops. When heater blowing nice and hot check coolent level ok put cab back on and take on little drive make sure heater stays hot. Then let car cool down and recheck coolent (may need topping up)

Right have checked the coolant level over the weekend and topped up a little with a new expansion tank cap had its first run in this morning I am still confused......it was running fine then hit traffic and up went the needle! no heat inside again bottom hose on rad cold and one of the heater matrix hoses cold. By holding revs at 2.5 -3k it drops temp and heat is inside again! Turn the heater dial and diverter inside and this can affect heat coming back too

Does sound like a coolent flow problem not easy to pin point over Internet lol. Could be few things blockage/airlock, thermostat stuck shut or even head gasket leaking pushing air into coolent system :/

Have you tried flushing the rad?

when the water hoses loose their internal reinforcing then they do/can balloon in odd shapes

Unfortunately looks to be head gasket! Will hopefully sort it and be back yet again lol

I've got a head gasket sniffer tester you can borrow if you like. I work in Tonbridge so can bring it along in a few days time if you like?

Cheers I'm pretty sure it's head gasket was getting plumes of white smoke and shortly after I checked the oil and had the dreaded on end of distinct, and mine is as far as I'm aware a v4/5?
