Default Steering wheel

Its important what you sit behind and the streering wheel on the wagon is pretty dreadful. What are the options, ie, will a newage sti wheel fit?, It does have an air bag. I remember ron saying something about the previous owner fitting a nardi wheel with no airbag but there was an issue with the air bag light.

Your car did have an STI8 wheel fitted for a while (same as mine, now Tim's). My airbag light went out fine because it's a later UK model. They took the steering wheel off cos they could not get the light to go out. I understand the wiring is different? Stuart from EastSussexMobile will be able to advise. He fitted mine/Tim's.

Sorry Tim! In a time warp for this enquiry. (I have changed my avatar though!!)

I fancy an Sti 8 wheel after sitting in Keith's/ron's/tims wagon! Lol

The wheels in the version 5's etc are nice but a tad big IMO.

Ive a Hawk sti wheel to go into mine...at some point. Only issue I see is air bag plug/socket doesn't match, so needs a few alterations.

I gave the old wheel to Keith as a spare but it didn't have the centre in it (I believe Stuart at ESMS has the centre) but you'd have to do something with the airbag light staying on. It had something missing and could not be adapted to work! doing the resistor mod would work I guess.

I was easier at the time to just swap the wheels over with whats in there now, so it would go through an M.O.T. ok

mmm... so the airbag light needs to be out for MOT purposes then?. Otherwise it wouldn't worry me that its on, nothing a bit of black tape wouldn't sort!.

Don't think that will work, they need to see the light come on then go off iirc

Yes mate, sorry, I wasn't very clear. It wouldn't worry me if it was on but guess it would worry MOT tester!.

If the airbag/srs light does not illuminate at all then its an advisory not a fail !!

As the light does not indicate a fault.
