Default Sigma alarm

Hi all
My 99 classic has the Sigma alarm, which works, but i have to have the fob nearly touching the drivers door glass for it to arm/disarm.
I've replaced the battery.
i'm a bit worried as it gives you the feeling its not going to work.
Is this normal ?
Pete

Have you got the keypad code?

You need a working fob or need to know the existing code in order to reset it, maybe worth doing if not just in case.

How would you go about resetting it? Would that increase the range? I have the same problem with my 09 hatch.
