Looks good Nige,
My only reservation is the time of the return ferry 20.00hrs.
I think that an earlier one would be better for me I would prefer to get home earlier,
thats a long day for me. wouldnt get home untill 22.30 ish.

Other's may want to leave for an early'r ferry. I posted & booked 8pm as it gives us plenty of time to get to Dunkirk. Im sure the ferry comp wont mind if you turned up early'r than your booked time. 8pm This allows for people who may get lost or for breakdowns, punctures, POLICE & other unexpected delays. Better if we all left together so we can help each other out on route. Nige

From a personal point of view having been on many trips small is beautiful.
They can all visit the SES site.
If you get to many it can muck things up especially when going from A-B, in towns etc.

Sorry it just my opinion.

Not that I want to put anyone off, BUT :

Optional extras available at additional cost include armco repairs, safety car attendance, vehicle recovery, track closure, hospital stays and helicopter rides. I recommend avoiding these. If you can't, then the following price-list may help:

Base fee for attendance of armco truck: €150
Removing damaged armco: €10/metre (x2 or x3 or x4 for multiple-height sections)
Replacement armco: €31/metre (x2 or x3 for double/triple height)
Removing damaged armco posts: €5.10 each
Replacing armco post: €39 each
Safety car attendance: €82 per 30 mins (car + 2 people)
Circuit closure: €1,350 per hour
Recovery truck: €190 (inc VAT)
Hospital stay & air ambulance: Let's just say, do NOT go there without travel insurance! (Though a European Health Card - which replaced the E111 - may cover the hospital bit.)
Everything except the recovery truck is then subject to 19% VAT.

I PM'd Gary and got no reply, but foud some details he posted on S'net.
There seems to be alot of un-certainty as to what is and what is not covered.

Stories of accidents and huge bills along with stories of accidents that were covered by a normal policy.

Gary mentioned on the thread that there is cover available at £60 per day.
Not sure if this is per day or for a 24 hour period though.

hopefully the latter, i.e mid-day to mid-day much like a normal policy rather then midnight to midnight. That way you get the chance to us it on either day between these times.

ADAC seem to be a good and popular breakdown cover for Ring goers. My current breakdown policy expires 2 weeks before we go, so will probably look around nearer the time and renew with ADAC.

i haven't got anything booked yet. i'm still wanting to go but not sure if its going to work out too expensive at the moment

so am i right in thinking that to do this, i need to sort the following?

- Check with insurance company to make sure i'm covered to drive in Europe?
- Arrange extra track day cover for the ring?
- Arrange some kind of European breakdown cover that includes the ring? Would this include recovery of car to the UK in the worst case scenario?
- Book Ferry
- Book Hotel.

Anything i've missed?

so am i right in thinking that to do this, i need to sort the following?

- Check with insurance company to make sure i'm covered to drive in Europe?
- Arrange extra track day cover for the ring?
- Arrange some kind of European breakdown cover that includes the ring? Would this include recovery of car to the UK in the worst case scenario?
- Book Ferry
- Book Hotel.

As we will be in convoy, only 1 car needs to carry hi-vi & traingle.

Some important but forgotton things.
Octane booster
Fire extinguisher
Tyre pressures
Spare oil, Power steering fluid, coolant - You will likely need to top up all of these.
I will put a variety of tools on board.

Good point, £60 seems acceptable but if the excess is into 4 figures it might not be such a great deal...

are "bash hats" as you so eloquently put, required on the ring? i thought you could just drive it without? i know its obviously safer with them, but didn't think you had to have them.

Crash helmets are not compulsory, but might be a good idea.
