Thumbs up New Type R owner...

Hey everyone.

I was down at Surrey Rolling Road a few weeks ago having my Type R mapped by Simon and a couple of the lads there suggested I join up. I'm based in Lincolnshire so I'm not sure if I'm a bit 'out of the way' but I figured it'd be good to say hello.

I'm the proud owner of a version 6 Type R Limited (number 386 if anybody knows the car) since January. It's running a 2.1 Lateral Performance stroker kit, CDB, Simtek and a cone filter and made a very healthy 320/305 on the original VF28 and tmic. I'm chuffed to bits with it.

I'll try and get some pics up if anybody is interested?

Cheers, Paul.

Haha you've twisted my arm.

Just a cheeky one when I picked it up. It's much cleaner now.

I've since fitted my set of white Defi's I had lying around from when I had this...

2.3 Escort RS2000. I still miss it to this day but the Type R is a whole different animal!

Paul.

Thank you all

The car was bought from Max at Hurst Cars in Bedford. I was planning on buying something much, much cheaper but as soon as I saw this I fell completely in love with it!

It's my first Impreza but I figured I might aswell dive straight in the deep end and try and tame a Type R. So far I've only managed to spin it once but to be fair it was on six inches of snow with the diff fully open. I had it coming!

Plans include removing the HKS VTA valve and going back to a recirc and shooting for 350bhp. I'm tempted by the SC36. Also the wheels are a bt too bling for my liking. Probably try and grab some MO6's or a set of Milleniums.

Cheers, Paul.

Love the type R, don't love the rims of the wheels.

Thanks again everyone. Very friendly bunch

Yeah the Escort was really nice. Unfortunately it went the same way as the rest of them and succumbed to rust about four years ago. I sold her on and she's been off the road the last two years so I'm not sure what her fate was. Probably had the engine ripped out and the shell has been left rotting somewhere. My plan was to throw the engine in a little 1st Gen Fiesta Zetec S as 190bhp and 180lbs of torque would have been a laugh but I was undone by costs.

The Type R is great it's just the dump valve that's annoying me at the moment, it's been mapped but it seems like it's upsetting the car a little. So I'm on the hunt for a recirc valve if anybody has got one lying about?

Paul.

Thanks guys, I just changed the oil on her. Well I say I, I actually mean Dave at Carnetix. All seems to be well and I got to have my first look underneath. Needs undersealing so that's the next job on the list. Also managed to source a recirc valve so happy days.

Yep agreed Glen fitted my Defis and wouldn't let me have the car back until everything was absolutely spot on. He even spent an extra hour of his time (that he didn't charge me for) conjuring up some extras fixings to make sure the centre pod was held down tight. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Paul.

You can't beat that kind of service - people that look after your car like it was their own!
