Default Coilovers too harsh, Prodrive shocks?
Hi chaps, some ideas would be great! I currently have an HSD coilover setup but am finding it a little too much for the road. I have read on a thread on here about using prodrive shocks with eibach springs which sounds like a good compromise. Any ideas where to buy this setup from or any alternatives?

Not sure if your a classic or newage driver, but the Prodrive shocks were only available for Classics.

The Bilsteins ride really well on the eibachs. A very good road setup, not too harsh but defo work well. Nice beefy 40mm struts too, make the stock ones look feeble.
Struts can also be rebuilt too if required.

I picked mine up on ebay, new and boxed. Cost new with springs was about £1500 IIRC.

But I got mine without spring (I already had eibachs) for £300, the guy selling usually has a few set's going for between £349-£399. Nowt on ebay at the moment but I can ping you his details if needed.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I suppose what I should really do is take it over to sumo and get them to look at the setup for me as I bought the car with it all on there already. It has a lot of whiteline stuff on it and is running 235 section rubber with 17inch rims. Been fiddled with quite a bit!

Could you send me his details please as ive just removed my BC's as there were too harsh for me. How do these Prodrives feel compared to the standard setup?

Did you find the BC's to harsh even on there softest setting... i didnt notice any different on a mates newage when he changed from stock

I had them on the softest setting all round and they were very very hard, i opted stupidly for shorter springs when i bought them 3/4 i think off the top of my head. There great for tracks etc where the surface is perfect but on the public roads its a nightmare.

He must have different springs then... couldnt you just change the springs ?

Indeed.

Sounds like user speccing error rather than the BC fault themselves. They are great IMO and I have been in loooads of cars with them on and they are more comfortable than the std suspension.

A brand new proper set of springs on those would be less than £200

No im not slating BC at all, the product is great but i specc'ed the wrong ones and fancy a change now. Ive been in a few cars with varoius setups and the BC's were the best but as i was at the time only using the car at weekends and now going to be using it day to day i want something softer.

Bilstein's on Eibachs are firmer then the OE shocks on Eibachs and obviously eibachs on either OE or Bilstein struts would be firmer the OE springs.

I had KYB adjustables on the car for about 2 months before the Bilsteins and found these too hard even on the softest setting (with eibachs).

I find the Bilsteins are a good alrounder, and if they are good enough for Prodrive,their good enough for me. Also have the great quality, reliability and re-build ability of a top quality product.
