I was going to top mount mine, but as I don't use on the track there is no point for road use other than it looks good

Been looking into this myself.

Fitting it as a top mount surely would suffer heat soak from the engine when stationary?

Was talking about this earlier. The only disadvantage is if it keeps your oil too cool thus doing more harm than good. If you can set it so it opens at say 110 degrees then shuts again at 90-95 it would be worth it. All IMHO of course.

You can get them with thermostats.

I've never had one with a thermostat, trooper and my RA

Summer months when it's needed it will never keep it to cool and in the winter it was only the really cold minus days it never got over 70 and then I never drove the car or just covered the cooler

Agree with Anger on this one I have no stat in mine and no problems, better flow without the stat, put a rag over the cooler when its really really cold and its fine, just takes a few mins longer to warm up. it still gets bloody hot on track (circa 400bhp)

I have mine behind the passenger fog cover, so you can control air flow to it as well as from it, Top mounting looks nice, but wouldn't want any kind of oil leak or drip above or near the turbo, I believe Greg ran one in his old blob top mounted with no problem, I think he had the Hyperflow top mount Oil cooler kit.
