I'm petty sure they are different. Maybe whole linkage and stick will swap over seeing as people put 6 speed in classic. But individual components like stick itself I think has different base.

would be the whole linkage, not just the stick.
I don't really need the stick and linkage, it's just the final universal joint end that goes on to the selector shaft on the gearbox which is a bit lose on mine.
apparently the one I got is an early one and I cant find it even on japanparts, hence me thinking of changing the whole linkage and then buying the newer UJ.

mine isn't completely lose yet as Tone managed to tighten it up a bit when he changed my box. I was just asking as I seen a bugeye linkage cheap on ebay and I could get the UJ to match it from japanparts then

actually, NVM, I just found the bit I was looking for.
I couldn't find it before on import car parts but was just doing a bing images search to show you what I meant and the part I need came up. i'll be adding this to my shopping list in January :-

http://importcarparts.co.uk/parts_in...ar selector UJ

if you look at eth 2 pictures on their site, the one in the photo is the one I need, the one in the diagram is the latter type which is what I would have got if I changed the whole gear linkage & stick
