I got mine off Scoobyclinic they had an ebay auction saved a bit. I think my 20g was £850 ish with a free R&R. Didn't take them up on the R&R as they are to far away. Very helpfull on the phone. There Td05/6 range is ported & pollished to there own spec. Hope that helps mate.

Thanks Guys

I have emailed Andy Forest, he only shows the TDO5 16 and 20g on his web site, Not the 18G

At this time i really need to diagnose the turbo as fooked, it still holds boost and car does not smoke but noise is now louder than it was and seems to be getting worse. Hey it might not even be turbo, Ahhhhhhhh its doing my nut in

Spoke to Andy last week he said he only had 20g (he does do 18g though)on the shelf. SC have 18g's in stock. I found it very difficult to get him via email. spoke on the phone in the end but that was not easy. Its just luck i think when you can get him

if you fit the 18G don't run it at the same boost as you do now.
I would say run it at about 0.8bar as it will be shifting more air then the 16G.

Obviously it will need a full remap at some point.

How about 'borrowing' the turbo off ya bro's car ???
Give it back after Germany.

Just a thought and something not to be overlooked, the 18G or 20G will be front entry whereas your current TD05 is 90 Degree, so there will be a bit of messing with Samco's to get it to fit.

I would go for a normal TD05 this close to the ring, then change it later down the line.
At least you know there will be no problems with fitting and that the map will be safe for the 1000 miles and several laps of the ring.

You should get ya money back to on the TD05 when it comes to sell.

Very good point Scott, did not realise the 18 was front entry.
I will in that case go for TDO5 16G - Is that what mine is now?
My bro uses his car daily

16G is what you have now, but I think the AndyF one is still Front Entry for the 1997 > models.

There's quite a few 90 degree TD05's on ebay, infact I have my eye on the 16G Big Front Entry

I think the Andy F 16G is 90deg, Saj has none either.
To be honest i would sooner buy a new one, or at least rebuilt.

He may do a 90 degree 16G but I expect you would have to to specify.

If your gonna buy new though, you wanna make it worthwhile.

A 16G isn't worthwhile if your looking to mod further, as you would be better off pound for pound with a bigger unit.

Website sounds like it will come with either, price ain't bad either for an Exchange

AFP5-16 - is based on the 90 degree inlet TD05 16G from the 93-96 cars and can also be converted to front entry to suit 97 onward cars. This turbo is very popular on installations aiming for up to 340bhp. It is available as a fully re-manufactured unit or new. This turbo will typically spool up to 1 bar boost by 3000rpm and full boost by 3300rpm.

£320 exchange or £600 new outright (includes 12 months warranty)

Ask Andy how much to convert it to 18G if you come back to him within 6 months, when the rest of the spec is ready for it ??
Worth an ask

Nope, no more smoke, I THINK!
It does sound deeper exhuast note wise and the turbo seems to wistle at a lower rpm, around 1900ish.
Seems to pull a bit harder but not pushed it to the redline to really see what it has in store.
Gotta get it mapped thats a must, sometimes when cold it feels lumpy but im putting that down to decat and uprated turbo upsetting a few things?
The other thing i have accuired is a sharp silent knock through the car on start up and switch off? not all the time mind you and not really to bad??? you can see it in the car just as the engine finally comes to a halt. just had new cam belt service, could it be because its nice and tight now?

Gunner i may take you up on that offer, just not convinced its turbo yet.
I have been playing with it today and had 2nd opinion, still no nearer to diagnosing it.
Its driving me nuts.
