Stick with it mate, most people that have scoobs, arn't on their first ones, sometimes takes a few to find that 'right one'.

Why do you think i drive 2 mercs?

Serious note. Sorry to hear your run of bad luck. Speak to the brainiacs on here. I'm sure they will be more than willing to help you out.

Stick with it mate. They are worth it when they are running.

If you do sell it. Buy another one. You may just have one of the bad ones

Hi Mate,

I don't know what to say, It is a great car that is in better condition than most, you are good with cars, i would just get new gaskets and do it yourself or with help from friends and it wont cost you to much, KEEP THE CAR!! I had it for 3 years and it never let me down, i know its not what you want to hear but it is just one of those things, When i bought the Golf after 2 days i had to spend £273 on it because it went wrong, so you never know.

Yeah if you like servicing it all the time
only joking!
Mates evo has got to be trailered to Mitsubishi
to redo the ayc they said don't even turn the key
because it could cost up to 4k if we did

Didn't realise it was WRX Pauls old car.

Keep it. It is a well looked after car. I was tempted to buy it when he put it up for sale.

I think you have just had a bit of bad luck

Stick with it. It will make you smile soon

Unhappy Keep on keeping on

Not really blaming anyone just had bit of bad luck lately . I have been round cars since 13/14 years old modified and built s**t loads mainly old skool escorts (none of your front wheel drive crap) real escorts. When im not familier with a acr usualy use haynes manual but cant seem to get one for 97 wrx and seeing as i got to take the engine out and do head gasket ?? , has anyone got a good step by step walk through with some tips tricks and so on to make it a bit quicker and easier ?. Would really be gratefull for any help that can be offered seeing as you all seem like a good set of blokes.

That really is bad luck if it was Pauls one. He did everything as soon as it needed it with that car and it never let him down, even with the miles he does. I guess its just with the age of these cars, like any car, anything can go at any time. At least you know once these bits are done, you will have a good car that has genuinely been well looked after. Good luck with it mate. By the way, the 'scooby' thing to do is use any form of repair as and excuse to make it go faster!

Hi mate,

Definately change both gaskets and get the heads skimmed, don't get the cheap gaskets get the original Subaru ones from the dealer (same as uk impreza) should be about £30 for each head skimmed and about £100 for the 2 head gaskets.

Hey mate im on my 3rd scoob now, 1st one was a WRX import and that was riddled with problems, 2nd was a uk turbo 2000 that was perfect but i stupidly sold it biggest mistake ever, 3rd is my sti RA and i love every minuet of it. Its got some problems but their getting sorted but im not gonna let this one go lol

Pauls car was well looked after mate so its well worth sticking with it, get the engine out and get a good set of gaskets, that way you wont have to worry about doing them again, also gives you the chance to clean up all the hard to reach places too

You could use this as a chance to put some stronger bits into the engine

OI! I'll have you know that I have grown up........ and slightly to the left

Glad you are keeping the car matey, as said by many people on here, Paul really looked after that car, you have been seriously unlucky to have a problem with it.

When it's all done and dusted, you will love it!
