Default Cutting out boot floor ?

What are the reasons for cutting the boot floor out and putting a flat floor in?

Think to smooth the underside of the car (less drag) and fit a diffusher to suck car downwards (more grip) just a guess but all the top drag/time attack cars have them.

Not for weight then? Wouldent the exhaust muck the air flow up?

Think I will leave this to the experts now, all the top cars use a lot of carbon fibre to save weight, I will also be interested to hear the comments on this.

This i post few months ago on SN

Quote:
Rear diffuser without full flat floor is pointless and just cosmetic addition. On some cars(Rally cars,Race cars etc.) is full flat floor which create positive downforce(something like suction effect),best way(for relative lower price, than full flat floor) how get bigger downforce is APR rear spoiler(fully adjustable and which is tested in aero tunnel).I'm not sure but these diffuser(HT Autos) are not tested in aero tunnel,if you are looking for aero tested and mostly used out are APR(which are tested in aero tunnel)
Full benefit from just diffuser,is not possible due you don't have as above i say Full flat floor....
A diffuser takes the airflow from under the car and channels it out into the low pressure area behind the car. The shape and design of the diffuser will determine how much (if any) downforce is produced. A full flat underbody will work the best with a diffuser, like the picture of the Enzo .
On a car without a flat underbody, the bottom of the body panels and rear bumper is usually lower than the bottom of the actual chassis of the car. A diffuser will help keep the airflow smoother when flowing into the area behind the car.
In my view is pointless fit on some cars, great addons, but too expensive if you want go carbon route. But you will need also get your car get little bit lower, because when car is lower then this flat floor create better downforce

You must know how it works and probably will be best test this in Aero Tunnel(£500 per hour), technically i would do this on mine, but practically will is not for me,due i don't want put something which i never use(i'm not professionally racing or i'm not preparing my car for racing/TA)

And here is great article on EVO forum about the Diffuser and how it works.

What times are you looking for at the pod ?

I was running 11.4's @ 128mph with 450bhp with just sound deadening out

Do you really want to go that far for a road car

Launch Control is only beneficial when it mapped to launch and many aren't.

Optimum set up for most of the big fish in the Scooby world is 5000 - 5500 rpm at 0.8 boost. That is the set up for the quickest 0 - 60 ft times in general.

Triple plates are really hard to use.

Did anyone see Mikee Singhs launch at The Pod on Sunday afternoon ?
That was one of those best launches I've ever seen. The thing just took off.
