Cheers Ian going to pop down and see a Mr Steve Whiteson of SW Motorsport as I know I can't go wrong with him building a replacement engine just means beans and toast for the rest of the year lol .

Sorry to see this Scotty.

Great to see you're going to crack on and sort it. It's a really nice looking example, so deserves to live on.

Best of luck with it.

To be honest I don't care about costs it's the effort I have put in her to get her to this stage I'm not letting it go this time so I will be up dating with what is going on in my project thread .

Well that just proves the known fact that Subaru's can't handle high speed/sustained high speed abuse. Hence why I always keep it below 110mph on that stretch.
Worzels done the same but on the other side of the road.

It wasn't the same car park Nick, it was about 5 miles further up the road (towards Belgium).

But echo what Scott says, they don't like continued high speed runs. I did a couple of 140mph fly-bys but kept things down under 100 most of the time.

I can get a STI 03 plate long engine which had a rebuild by API 11k ago when it had just done 74k and also a STI 05 plate long engine with 76k I know I can't use my inlet mani but is there a lot involved when fitting it with new age mani into my classic .

Surely you'll only want a short engine as unless your going for something like a Syvecs you won't be able to utilise the AVCS heads.

How much do you think AVCS heads are worth peeps as I won't be needing them as I will confirm over the weekend once spoke to Steve and Matty .

For the time , effort and money Id not bother . Just buy a newage sti bottom end and stick your heads on with Cosworth stopper gaskets and some updated head studs .

That's the plan C.J but can only find sti long engine at the moment with low mileage and it's been rebuilt .

Buy the long engine and sell the heads for two reasons
1. You may make a little
2. The engine won't of been left open with the possibility of crap getting in

My Type R is based on CJ's suggestion and Dave's + 1.

JDM STI V7 bottom end. Rock solid. With plenty of 140 + pulls ; ).

I guess they wait until they've got enough to fill a whole transporter and then send them over in one go....

No, only takes a week or two to prep for trip, only reason the classic didn't come this year is I couldn't decide what wheels to put on it............... Honest.
