Was a great open day with the guys from the porsche club and thanks for the invite Neil, great to see the process of how they do the wheels, from removal off the car to the finished wheel.

In the pics you can see the powder coating, shot blasting machine, the tools they use to check if the wheels are straight etc, was great to see some sorted porsches too:thumb:

So here are some pics.

1st are some damaged wheels to be repaired, including wheels off a bently, range rover and a bmw also the machine that checks for straightness, the tank which takes off the old paint, then they are washed and then shot blasted.










Porsche GT3 wheel about to be prepped


First coat of powder coat

Into the oven, gas mark 6 I think

Final coat with a white coloured powder to ensure full coverage, but this will turn silver after being in the oven.

And after a quick bake again in the oven it comes out like this

I can really recommend Wheel Works in Crawley - have mended dings in my alloys a couple of times and always a good service

Was it a low temp powdercoat?? Did they explain how companies still using the higher temp process crack and ruin alloys?
