Default Breakdown cover, European for the ring

Hi all my breakdown cover is due to expire in 2days time,

So im wondering who is best to go with this time as i would like the European cover as well for the ring trip...

I was with green flag and they do euro cover but as long as the recovery fee is not more than the value of the car...

I was looking at adac.. but was wondering how difficult it is to get recovered in the ulk as there a german company..

You need ADAC "Plus"

Contact number (office hours don't forget the hours time difference)

"Telephone enquiries and to join and pay my debit/credit card phone offices Tel No. 00 49 89767 66632 and speak to one of the four staff who speak fluent English.

When they answer just say: Sprechen Sie Englisch? (pronounced Shpre[ch]en Zee English?,),

Couple of things to look out for when taking out your breakdown cover, one is the age of the car, some policies won't cover cars over 10 years old in Europe, think most are up to 15 years old, something to be aware of for any classic owners, secondly is the repatriation, most will only repatriate up to the value or a percentage of the vehicle (this would be book price and probably not any agreed value you may have with an insurance company), I did read something in the T&Cs that you may be able to pay the difference. As said above, the only company that will recover you from the ring itself is ADAC.

As a side note, for anyone that has RAC cover in the UK, it's worth giving them a call and asking if they can do a reduced price for their single trip European cover, I've just managed to get nearly 50% off their online price for their premium plus cover and could have had their basic cover for £10, costs are car age and trip length dependant.

I have phoned ADAC and there said send them a Email to join, and now there have send this back.
thank you for your message and interest in joining ADAC.

Please note that the ADAC (Plus) membership provides a reduced range of services and benefits for members residing outside Germany. The classic membership covers breakdown assistance in
Germany only.

ADAC Plus members will not be entitled to benefits such as spare parts dispatch, vehicle customs
duties and scrapping, credits and cash service in Germany and in their country of residence.

In view of the above, would you please verify whether a local organisation offers a product that better suits your needs.

Under the FIA umbrella organisation, ADAC cooperates with other automobile clubs. We believe that your local automobile club might offer products that provide more comprehensive protection.

Please do not hesitate to get back to us with any questions.

So not sure if it will be better to go thought the AA if there will pick you up from the ring ? or how are you doing it .

Thats interesting sounds like you pay all that money to be covered but wont fix your car as its not covered and also you pay additional £200 to be towed aswell .

It's only ADAC that will recover you from the ring as far as I'm aware.... I've gone with RAC as they provided me with the best cover for the age of my vehicle, at least it will be sent back home if the worst should happen...

RAC won't recover me from the ring itself but they will collect you from the car park outside it, you have to pay ADAC for recovery from the ring to the car park....

As with all these companies, you'll only find out if it's money well spent if you need to use it....

To add to above:

Base fee for attendance of armco truck: €150
Removing damaged armco: €10/metre (x2 or x3 or x4 for multiple-height sections)
Replacement armco: €31/metre (x2 or x3 for double/triple height)
Removing damaged armco posts: €5.10 each
Replacing armco post: €39 each
Safety car attendance: €82 per 30 mins (car + 2 people)
Circuit closure: €1,350 per hour
Recovery truck: €250 (inc VAT)
Hospital stay & air ambulance: Let's just say, do NOT go there without travel insurance! (Though a European Health Card - which replaced the E111 - may cover the hospital bit.)
Everything except the recovery truck is then subject to 19% VAT.

So expect to pay at least €250 for recovery of you break down......

Recovery will be the least of your worries if anything major goes wrong

I'm with the AA so assume I can just extend my coverage. Last (and only time I went) I organised it at the departure car park about 10mins before going through the tunnel - standard operating procedure.
