Talking Run in with Belgium police

Just back from Belgium after a stay there with friends. When we arrived we drank beer, champagne and wine, then we went to the pub,met more friends and drank lots of strong Belgium beer. Then everyone, but not me,drove home.Didn't seem to be any concerns about drink driving and no sign of any police.Next morning I was up early and went out for my morning run.Ran into town,no traffic on the main road so jogged across.300mtrs later I was stopped by the police and informed it is an offence to cross a main road unless the green crossing light showed.Anybody make any sense of that??

Thats nuts matey.
I take it they let you off with a warning.
I thought it was just Thailand that had some very strange laws.
There not bothered about drink driving, but get caught with even half a joint and its a long stretch in a hell hole.
