Got the 2 Motorsport too for a birthday / Christmas pressie. Was going to get the 3, but got the 2 for half the price of the 3 black so went for the cheaper option. (3 does look good though!) Between us there should be good footage of the Ring...

If we can edit it on some good and easy software?

Have you got the attachment for a roll bar either of you?

I've got 2 of these, haven't used them much but they are a fast card and have worked fine so far

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1407179243...84.m1423.l2649

Think Worzel also uses these as well

This may upset you guys but one of the guys I sail with has a professional 4 camera go-pro setup for his coaching/training DVDs however he's currently testing an alternative version that comes complete with all clamps and cases etc. his initial impressions are that it's 95% as good as the go-pros and he plans to retail them around £150!

My recent trip to Africa. The gopro outperformed every other camara there + I had both hands free. Fantastic bit of kit just wish I had waited for the 3 with its wifi.

The other one that really interests me is the contour HD as this has built in GPS tracking however all the compariions of image quality show the Go pro as clearer with better Image stabilisation.

Get wi fi or lcd screen. Fantastic through the Iphone or Pad. Use a good 16gb card rather than a 32gb. If at the ring we put two together they will do 3D. Remote is good to if your hideing it somwere.

There are already a few out there like this. Maplin do a reverse engineered one that basically looks like a cheap GoPro knock off yet promises a similar quality, for £140ish.

I know with digital SLRs the larger cards tend to be slower so not sure if this will affect the video?

Looking at getting a GoPro Hero3.... is it worth paying the extra for the Black version, or is the Silver up to the job?

If i was only going to use it 4-5 times a year would the Black be overkill though?

Resolution on the silver is just as good as the hero2 black... The hero3 black is far superior on resolution

I want the Hero3 for the Wifi

Resolution on the Black is far better than the Silver, but does it need to be that high for occassional use?

As a crude rule of thumb:

White Hero 3 = A Hero 1 with wifi
Silver Hero 3 = A Hero 2 with wifi
Black Hero 3 = The real Hero 3

Also, Surrey Scoobies have a 'club' GoPro Hero HD 2 that we lend out to paid SS members. We got a 16GB memory card which works fine, but the 32GB card we bought in addition is rejected by the GoPro, even though it's a reputable brand (I forget which one) and a Class 10.

Interesting. I thought ours was a SanDisk, but it could be a Kensington. I will have to dig it out.

This video was shot on a GoPro 2 at 720 using the 32gb SanDisk, haven't used 1080 yet as i feel the quality is good enough at 720 for 99% of the time

Not needed at all more a bit of a luxury, with wi-fi you can stream the image to your smartphone (iOS or Android), if you wanted wi-fi later you can always add it to the GoPro 2 later on as I have

There's also an iPhone app to control it, which gives you a preview screen of whats being filmed and must be mega useful.

Here's a clip of it in action. Ignore the bit about the wifi backpack, all three cameras in the Hero 3 range have wifi built in.
