Thanks to Stuart (and his dad ) for saving my scoobe today...

Investigated a low pressure issue on idle (very low!) and replaced my oil pump, effectively saving my engine

Really nice bloke, great to talk to and really helpful.

Thanks Stuart!

J.

Talking Thanks!

Yet another thanks to Stuart for replacing my near completely broken oil pickup on the Hawk - a £70 oil pressure gauge was the best investment I ever made!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/80414472@N07/8723286388/

Was 5mm away from completely shearing off - the only symptom was a low oil pressure at idle after car was warmed up.

A very lucky escape!

J.

No sump has never been off before - seems that it's a bit of an issue fairly particular to the EJ25 engine. There's a massive thread on NASOIC about it labelled something like 'Who'se Oil Pickup HASNT failed?'... which says a lot...

Stuart said the replacement part was different to the original, so perhaps Subaru have 'dealt' with the issue... Was also the first one his local Subaru dealer had ever ordered apparently...

Only installed the oil pressure gauge at Christmas - thank god I did!

J.

Another recommendation from me. Welding was outsourced but a fantastic job. Got some new brakes off a friend of Stu, which he duly fitted and bled up. My wheels then wouldnt fit over said new brakes, so Stu put some temporaries on until i managed to find a set that would go over. Took me ages to find some, but got them delivered to Stu, and again,he duly fitted them to the car. I wont be taking my car anywhere else in future.
Cheers
Dave
