Default Bedford Autodrome trackday

So after the original date for this trackday being snowed off in December (8" across the circuit...) this was rebooked for Tuesday this week. Drove up on the Monday evening with a friend (Greg) and stayed in a Travelodge (cheap & not so cheerful!) in Bedford to avoid the 5am start.

Overnight rain meant the day started off wet, although with a stiff breeze and no further rain it started to dry after lunch. By mid-afternoon, it was almost completely dry and managed to really pick up the pace. Overall, good fun day, great circuit as nothing to really hit and great variety of corners being over 4 miles long. Great organisation from Opentrack too, would definitely use them again. Got two sessions with an instructor in as the slots were free and some spare in the afternoon. Good standard of proper track cars and enthusiasts out there too

So.. some photos, some on my phone and some from the photographer there (all included free).

Ticked over 100k on the way up the M1, this was when getting to the hotel.

Awesome pics, the car always looks good when out on track. I particularly like the low light shots, pics 11 and 13 stand out.

I did a trackday with Opentrack at Snetterton in November, was impressed too - the free instruction, free photos etc makes a nice change from the MSV sessions I've done before!

Great pics, how did the the gti-6 get on against your scoob? I had a gold one many years ago, and still have soft spot for them.

It's certainly more aggressive than my scoob - stripped, caged, bucket seats, engine work including cams and usual exhaust/induction mods.... roughly 200bhp and about 300kg less than my scoob.

It ran really well and we both passengered in each others cars through the day, they really are chalk and cheese. The pug pulls hard to 7.5k rpm and wants to bounce off the limiter all day, whereas obviously the scoobs start to run out of puff at about 6k. From the datalogger we can see he could carry more mid corner speed than me (weight) but I was faster down the straight and made time up on the brakes (8 pot Ksports on front, brembos on rear). The pug heavily warped its front discs in the afternoon.

Good fun though!
