Default RAF Marham Trackday - April 20th and/or 21st 2013

Having done this before with Rob many years ago, in a £500 Pug 307, I thought it could be a possible event for SES members worried about hitting the arnco at other Trackday venues.

Therefore, I have been in contact with the organisers of the RAF Marham Trackday and have arranged that as soon as the date is announced we will be informed.
This is currently proposed to be either late April or early May 2013.

This is a great day out, and for those worried about 'an off' this has to be one of the safest places to stretch your cars legs with plenty of grass run-off and maybe the odd cone.

The trip can include an overnight stay at 'The George' in Swaffham, for a beer and grub for those that want to.

Full Day : £60 (approx), so a real bargain.
Accomodation : TBC

Remember that day
Do think poeple will have a good time but need to look how far it is and budget for there and back , no garages and think about it as when all that is taken into account it makes brands or goodwood about the same money .
But as said would be a good day and may even go myself but can't book that far ahead .

Great work mate

This is an especially good way to try out their scoob on track, as there's relatively little to hit if you get it wrong as its an airfield based circuit.

I'll probably just do the Saturday, possibly stay enroute rather than all the way there on the Friday night as I can't get away until 4/5 PM.

Unfortunately, I think having Goodwood crop up with a trackday opportunity so much closer has pretty much knocked this plan on the head.

I know Simon has booked already and is still going (or was when we were chatting a couple of weeks ago) but does anyone else still intend to go?

I won't be going now as still not fixed my boost problem from Goodwood last weekend.

Beofre I diagnose the problem i'm going to find me a new turbo and TMIC this weekend, as I might as well do some upgrades at the same time.

Before you take it apart give the boost control solenoid a clean out, and if you can, operate it off a battery to make sure it's working whilst cleaning.

It may of been experiencing detonation on the track and pulled the IAM (Ignition Advance Multiple) value. If this drops to around 1/2 it's max value it will cut boost. If you can force an ECU reset or disconnect the battery for a few hours, see if it's back to normal after.

If it is experiencing detonation (as above) it would be worth fitting a new MAF probe. The car could probably do with a fresh one before remapping anyway judging by the mileage the car's done.

3 port not really needed on your spec.
I might have a 2 port kicking about.

Doesn't make a lot of difference as long as you get the restrictor pill size right on the 2-port configuration.
A newage WRX will need a smaller restrictor pill to get more then 1bar boost from it.
Regardless of what the BCS duty cycle is set to all the intelligence within the ECU still won't get it boosting, it all comes down to a small piece of brass with a 0.9 - 1.2mm hole in it.
But then your mapper would know that, unless of course he's trying to flog you a 3-port, instead of a £0.99p restrictor, where there would be no profit margin.

Vf43 turbo
Sti tmic
Sti inlet with tumbler deletes and pink injectors
Replacement 2 port controller and maf
Brembo rear calipers
Tein super street coil overs with adjustable top mounts

All to be fitted with other goodies I already have, so much for the cheap run around.

yeah got some RCM headers, downpipe, and centre exhaust to fit as well.

most second hand stuff mind. but my other projects have taken so long to complete i get bored of them by the time they are done. Nurburgring trip has put modding into overtime.
