Default Esc Tunnel Run V ~ 25th October

This has been posted on the SIDC for the Essex Scoobie Crew..

OK this is it the official thread for THE event on the ESC calendar

It's time for the fifth annual ESC Tunnel Run

If you've never been before it is one of the biggest events of the year and last year we had Scooby owners from as far afield as Cornwall, Cumbria and Birmingham

Last year we had over 200 cars and the event was covered by Total Impreza magazine. Thanks to everyones generous contributions we raised £1,086.18 for ESSEX AIR AMBULANCE

We will be collecting again and hope to beat that figure this time around :thumb:

We take in the dartford tunnel, limehouse link and blackwall tunnel. A quick stop at McDonalds and then back again.

Bring a map because someone gets lost every year

A route will be posted shortly.........

Hope to have some Time Attack cars with us this year to look at up close.

Same as Scott really. Not my cup of tea. Only due to the fact that these things are TOO WELL attended and it all gets too broken up. A small group of 15 or so is probably about right.

So.......................................... how about one of our own at some point?

Last year me and simon went to the meeting point and then went on one with just the two cars was cool
best bit was seeing all the other cars going the other way thinking they were lost !

It would be good to do a smaller run.

I have done several now and Worzel is right they can be chaotic,

The last run I went on a small group of us followed CJ., and was fun. I still think it would be a good idea to do a tunnel run early of a Sunday morning rather than Saturday night when the streets are so busy.

There are a couple of tunnels I have seen on you tube that look good, that I have not been down, Tooley Street I think they are off or known as, close to Tower Bridge ?????????

I am not sure about doing the run on the 25th at the moment.

Hi All
How about starting over the east end Early sunday morning, work our way across london,Blackwall, limehouse, rotherhythe. Then a stop on Tower bridge for a photo or two,A few small tunnells over that way.
Head over to parliament square for a few pics in front of Big Ben.
Then up to Hyde Park corner up park lane,a few pics in front of Marble Arch,Then head west along the A40 taking us nicely to the Ace Cafe for some breakfast.

26th sounds good to me.

I have spent around 15 years driving around london so know my way around.

I would suggest starting at:

Thurock
Dartford tunnell
Blackwall tunnell
Limehouse tunnell - Caution average speed cameras
Rotherhythe Tunnell - 20mph this one
Tower Bridge - Photo stop
London Eye - Photo stop
Westminster bridge - Photo stop
Big Ben - Photo stop
Buck Palace - Photo stop -
Park Lane
Marble Arch
Head West on A40
Wembley Stadium - Photo stop
Ace Cafe - Breakfast - Photo's

There are other sites we can take in such as st pauls etc but i think the above will enable us to get around without rushing.
Any other suggestions anyone please stick them down.

So the big question is what time to set out.

If we want to pull up on the various bridges etc then it needs to be early

Add name if you are coming

The roads are empty first thing sunday mornings.

When ever I have done runs before you spend more than half the time in a queue of some sort.

Looking at cars in the dark is great fun.

I think Crowman's idea is brilliant something a little different.

I can't wait this, something I proposed along time ago in a previous life

I had a little drive about last night, there are a few brick tunnells around south side of westminster bridge, before the run i will locate the one in the u-tube clip.

I think Worzel is up for this too, He is off on his hols for a week now.

So guys have any of you got a problem with early mornings.
The ace cafe opens at 7.30am on a sunday,so we can get over there any time after that.
I reckon we need to allow aprox 3 hours to take in all the sites.

Sounds good to me.

Early mornings not a problem as I do it every day of the week.

Might I suggest we meet at 06.30.
Then by the the time we get up town it should be ok for some great pictures.

Yes mate,

I think doing the run 1st thing on the Sunday will be brill and what a great opportunity for some photos.

Scoobs parked up outside of Buch house and on Westminster Bridge with hopefully,

without hardly anyone else around.

It will be good to try something a little different.
