at the risk of opening a rather large can of worms you have just simply quoted an old urban myth..............

do you have any oil or oil pressure issues currently?? std or modded?? road or track type use??

Probably worth getting an uprated pump as you're replacing anyway - if I'm correct you only need an uprated pump if you have larger bearing gaps (e.g. race bearings with different tolerances) however I am open to correction!

Cosworth/RCM oil pumps get a lot of good press however all you need is one with the pressure valve shimmed! Which is a hell of a lot cheaper, I may have a contact who can supply one if needed. Who are you getting to rebuild your engine?

if your engine has done a bearing then the oil pump will be fubbarred anyhows, in this case you will need at the min. a genuine new pump or at the most a modded 11mm one

IMO do not fit a 12mm pump, std or modded these are specifically for AVCS engines........
